The following is my opinion:
The characters sucked, the story made no sense, and I was not impressed with the overall look of the film.
The FX were great. The monsters and mechs looked great. The framing around the action was terrible and distracted from what could have been a much better movie.
JMO of course. Not really too concerned with a sequel unless they it's with a whole new cast of characters that might be interesting.
