Maybe a lot of players think Alex was a product of Andy Reid and the supporting cast of players (Hunt, Kelce, Hill) and coaches (Nagy, Peterson) maxing out his potential and don’t think Alex will be as good away from KC.

Either way, their rationale makes no sense. If it's based on what they expect from a player in 2018, then Shazier shouldn't make the list. If it was based on 2017 production, then Smith should be on the list. He played his best year ever last year, yet he's made it in the past.
