Like Dane said, streaming is becoming big. Looks like they are trying to put together a good lineup for their service to compete with the market.

AT&T still has UVerse, but they are pushing new customers to DirectTV.
Yes, it became expensive to trench and they had lots of technical difficulties with the 'last mile" old copper pipes.
Google Fiber is scaling back as well and looking for a last mile wireless solution because of the expense of trenching cable and all the red tape they have had to cut thru.
