Just reached that point in season 4 myself. Watching Gethsemane. Just finished Tempus Fugit and Max, the plane crash two-parter. That was also good stuff.

Complete opposite for me. I skip the MotW episodes and just watch the alien arc episodes. I don't think it starts to unravel until around the end of season 7, when Mulder is finally abducted. I don't remember much of the mythology from seasons 8 and 9, although I do remember hating the finale. But as much as I liked Robert Patrick as an actor, the show fell apart when Duchovny went part time and he took over.
