I watched Saul's introductory episode from BB last night. It is truly amazing how much he changed from then to now (Badger in the chow line), but one thing I noticed:
When Walt and Jesse have him by the makeshift grave and Saul thinks he's about to get killed, he says, "No, no, no, it wasn't me, it was Ignacio, he's the one. Oh no, siempre, siempre, Soy amigo del cartel," which translates into "I am always a friend of the cartel."
So, at some point between the first season of BCS and season two of BB, Saul gets involved with some pretty serious cartel shit, as does Ignacio, Tuco's associate who wanted him to give up the Kettlemans.
