And if he plays well enough that we lose another 2nd rounder, it's either that he's really excelling in this offense or he's managed his way to not **** up.
In Andy Reid typical offenses, I don't thin the second option can really happen, so until he receives a contract extension I view him as a stop gap with the chance to become the guy.

What's better for the Chiefs in 2015:
1) Having players drafted with the second round picks in 2013 and 2014
2) Having gone 8-8 and 9-7 with Alex Smith at QB before cutting him loose?
That's where I'm coming from.
It's all moot if Alex Smith elevates his play (maintains efficiency while being less risk-avoiding). I just will have to see that to believe it.
The Alex Smith we saw at the end of Saturday's first half? If he's that guy, consistently, everything worked out. I just can't believe that until I see it... too much evidence to the contrary.
I hope that happens. I just don't have faith in it happening.
