Yep, this is completely different from 9/11 and the Minnesota bridge collapse.
In those situations, it was over and time to move on. In this situation, the police KNOW the suspect is still in the Boston area, they don't want anyone entering or leaving unless necessary (and they will all be looked at), and they want everyone in their house and off the street.
A baseball game and the crowd it brings could hurt the search. What'll be interesting is if, given the clear streets they wanted they still can't find the guy all day today, all night tonight, and all day tomorrow, will they want to cancel the Saturday game?
