That Hoerner AB was a 'that's what speed do' AB.
Hicks wasn't fooling him and wasn't even trying to. Hoerner just couldn't get around on it.
And that 88 mph slider at the knees had Suzuki bailing into the dugout but the ump blew the call.
Hicks is an asset. If the price is right you can trade anyone. But that's not someone you dump, IMO. That's truly special arm talent.
Edit: And THERE ya go, JD - that's what I'm talking about. Suzuki cheated on heat, was looking to fight off a sinker and it was a 4-seamer that simply didn't run so Suzuki swung right through it. That's exactly what I'm talking about.
Yeah, he gave up a double, but every other AB that inning was purely defensive. And after he mixed the slider in there, he finished it with that 4-seamer that's completely changed how he can pitch.
