The 90th yard on its own has no value to the game. Neither does the 89th.
Why not only give points for yards that gain a first down or a td? That's the only way to ensure that you're only getting points for yards that matter to the game.
While we're at it, we also would need to eliminate all points scored by teams down by 20+ in the last 5 minutes of the 4th quarter as those yards and points are meaningless to the actual game.
