It's the problem we had for a few decades. If you don't have a top quarterback, you're screwed. The only times we've had a top QB, we've also had good coaching, so I don't know the relationship there, but it seems like having both good coaching and a good QB is a winning formula.
I wonder how many good QBs have prevailed with bad coaching, and how many good QBs have failed with bad coaching. It might be hard to separate those two things. I think a really good QB will make the coach look good.

I disagree. Clearly, the Broncos need to put Elway back in complete command. Their success has been so closely entwined with Elway that there is just no arguing that he is the sole reason for whatever success that franchise has ever had. He needs to be made head coach and general manager. Hell, he should even suit up and play QB. Keep him in charge until the day he dies and then hold seances to divine his will for the franchise from beyond the great divide. John Elway IS the Denver Broncos.
