No vaccine is 100% effective and it's been public knowledge that the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines are somewhere around 90% effective, so there's a 10% chance that if you're exposed, you have may symptoms.
But 10% is a helluva lot better odds than 100% and if enough people aren't vaccinated soon, the current vaccine's protection will plunge due to the virus mutating, which is what we're seeing now.
