As I’ve pointed out before, the Texans have some leverage but not as much as you think.
1) Watson’s stock is super high, at a peak
2) there are QB needy teams with huge pick surpluses, rarely seen, that could make the type of offer it would take (Jets, Dolphins)
3) (and this is the big one) he still eats up the Texans cap. They might be fine punting 2021, but if he sticks to his guns headed in 2022, what re they going to do? Carry a dead cap spot that eats $40 million of their cap? Cut him (and let him go wherever he wants?)
