Im not a huge fan of the 5.56 round. Just seems a bit small for me, maybe because I haven't hunted deer in ages. So I was really looking at the .300 blackout. Main advantage to the .300 blackout appeared to be the reduced sound with suppressed rounds, but it really doesn't have much distance at all. True, most targets aren't hunted at long distances and I have rifles for long distance should I need them. Nonetheless, I was really tepid about the .300 blackout.
Then I started reading about the .300 HAMR. Wilson added more powder to the blackout and put 7.62 rounds out of an AR-15 frame at about 2400fps. Range goes from about 100-ish yards to about 250-ish yards. And the round was just SAAMI approved, although nobody has ammo or powders up here.
I've found a way to get some ammo up here so I will post updates once I take it to the range. But it's configured as an AR pistol with an 11.2" barrel and arm brace. I built it on a Sharps Brothers lower that I had cerokoated.
