You whiff on one blitz pickup and your superstar QB can miss a few weeks. Or simply get hit and flutter a pass over the middle for a critical interception.
It's why I'm torn on the Fox/Colquitt thing. Man I'd like to free up that money, but it isn't their primary responsibility that concerns me. I think Fox can give us a reasonable facsimile of what Colquitt does as a punter, just as I think Thompson could give us a reasonable facsimile of Williams as a runner.
But as a holder, Fox worries me. Colquitt's steadiness there is incredibly important and I bet it's been huge in Butker's relatively smooth development. If Fox makes one mistake, it could cost us the season. Thompson, if he can't be counted on to make the right block 95 times out of 100, even if he isn't perfect in executing it, can't really shoulder the load.
It's the stuff on the margins that may decide just how much run he can get.

The fact that Fox didn't hold or punt at all in that preseason game is all I need to know. They're going to stash him and replace Colquitt after the season is my guess.
Pass pro is still the main reason I think Hyde doesn't get cut.
