The reason that insults coming from men aimed at women often involve denigrating a woman's looks is *not* sexism. Yes, it's very personal, and not nice, but it cuts a woman harder than it cuts a man because much more of a woman's sexual market value is determined by looks compared to a man. It's a way to inflict pain on women.
