That's really what has me curious.

Because at that price, there's no injury discount and I'd probably rather have the C+ player who's healthy. I'm assuming that Darby isn't insisting on a CB1 contract.

Matthieu's deal would be borderline CB1 and he doesn't have the health history to support that.
