Mahomes has had a great year for a first year QB but this is kind of a pointless discussion because among the HOF caliber QB's who has
1) played in an era where it is this damn easy to pass throughout the entire league. -- receivers and Qb's more protected than ever and 16 game season instead of 14 in the distant past
2) inherited the keys to an offense with one of the best receiving cores in the NFL
3) been drafted and handed the keys by a very good playoff team the first year he is starting and a coach willing to throw the ball
Mahome's has been operating with a Ferrari(Hill) and a couple of BMWs on offense most of this year while many other legendary qb's didn't start off with much.
