If Brees has Mahomes numbers and Mahomes poor defense Brees would be the hands down MVP and no one in America would question it.

I don't even care that much about the stats. Brees has been able to be mediocre and win games, like the other night against the Panthers. His defense is good enough to win the game for him even when he sucks.
Mahomes is not in that situation with a great defense helping him. He has to be great for the Chiefs to win. They have the only defense in the league this year that has blown a 14 point lead with 5 minutes left in a game.
