Yep sounds like "North Dakota", that shit can be a blast no doubt and I've done my share over the years. Life challenges can also contribute heavily, heard about a homeless guy who seemed incredibly intelligent and when questioned about it simply stated a drunk driver waxed his wife and two daughters and he was just going to drink until he died to forget all the pain. Guy looked him up online and his story was legit. No argument from me on his choice, at all.
