Those roster moves give the Chiefs 57.2 MILLION DOLLARS IN CAP ROOM.
The Chiefs attempt to go hog wild on free agents, but lose their top target, DT Sharrif Floyd, to the Dallas Cowboys, despite offering him more money. They also try to sign HB Jerick McKinnon, but he gets away to New England.
Left holding their dicks with a fat wallet unspent, the Chiefs do sign a few key players.
2018 Chiefs free agency:
Quote:
83 SS Mark Barron - 3 years, 9.3m
80 DT Roy Miller III - 1 year, 870k
78 CB Bryce Callahan - 4 years, 18.3m
79 DT Ian Williams - 2 years, 10m
75 QB AJ McCarron - 3 years, 5.34m
75 TE Nick O'Leary - 1 year, 2.59m
72 RG Chris Hubbard - 1 year, 1.19m
71 QB Kevin Hogan - 2 years, 1.4m
|
Chiefs address their hole at SS and CB with a big hitter and a speedy young guy. Miller and Williams will be good stop gaps at DT. McCarron is the perfect backup, O'Leary is the blocking te and Hubbard is an insurance policy at G who can at least pass block (84 PBK).
Oh, and why did the Chiefs sign two DTs...because with the retirement of DJ, the departure of Hali, Ford and Ramik... THE 4-3 IS IN BACK IN KC.
And next...the master stroke that is the 2018 draft.
