Same. They played it safe. Which, wasn't the
worst thing to right the ship after the prequels.
The only thing that truly bothered me about the movie was slapped on fourth death star. Everything else felt like a suitable homage, for the most part. The "it's not the death star it's
TEN TIMES bigger" made it feel like a reboot at that point.
Still, the moment Rey calls the lightsaber has brought tears to my eyes from the first time I saw the movie. Abrams made me give a **** about the new characters, which was far more than Lucas pulled off in the prequels. TFA made me invested in the series again - but 8 needs to be far more than a pale imitation of ESB. Rian Johnson is a good place to start for that.
