True. But Hammel IS likely to perform at Ventura's rough floor level... and at Chris Young's ceiling.

Upside needs to come from Karns and Duffy. Vargas, Kennedy, and Hammel should be solid, known quantities.

Also sets up a dynamite 8th-9th situation by keeping Strahm in the pen for another year. Would be interesting to see if they'll use Strahm less frequently but for longer stretches (2-3 innings). Would help him keep that arm in shape for a move to the rotation in 18.
