Not to get biblical but the setup makes me think Gilligan is referencing the prodigal son. Jimmy is the prodigal son who tries to go legit. Chuck is the jealous brother upset that his brother is getting showered with attention. In the end, it's the jealous brother who has done right all his life that is painted as the bad guy.
Chuck is the jealous brother on steroids. He's now using Jimmy's love for chuck as a weapon. Jimmy has been masterful at covering his tracks but slips twice because he cares more about his brother than about covering his own ass. Chuck using that against Jimmy says a lot about what a weasel he's become.
