I may have mentioned this earlier but I think it's imperative that the Jedi appear to be super heroes because DC and Marvel have so upped the ante that it's what the market demands.
I was eleven when
A New Hope came out and fourteen when
The Empire Strikes Back was released. Based on Ben Kenobi's speech in his home and the teachings of Yoda (not to mention Darth Vader's power), I expected to see the Jedi with superhuman powers. I mean, they're connected to The Force so they
should have superhuman powers.
Yet in the prequels, the Jedi's power was lame. The whole "passive" nature, especially that of Samuel L. Jackson's character (who was totally miscast, IMO) was off-putting.
At least Kanan has passion, as does Ezra. The whole "sleepy" Jedi thing is boring.
