If he really does, I'm sure he will have you performing those movements with more frequency. A lot of the tried & true 'strength' programs have you perform those 3 movements on the same day, usually 3x week for the reason that you will need to hit them on meet day in that order also. Since I'm getting into heavier weight (for me) on my squats, we've been working on pause squats with lighter weight. Just to make sure my form is perfect and I have that "explosiveness" coming back up. Also the same reason for the deficits to help my dead lift "explosiveness".
