I'm not sure if any of you like instrumental hip-hop - which is non-commercial, but; i've been really digging - DJ Cam, Dj Krush, as well as DJ Spooky.

Please if any of you know of the similar to DJ Shadow, let me know. That's the flavor i'm looking for and it's not real easy to find new stuff, but anyhow, i watched a Documentary on The Beastie Boys last night and apparently they did a prank call to Carvel's Ice Cream, back in the day Carvel offered a flavor called Cooky Puss. I had never heard of it, the song nor the confection.

I used to see the Carvel commercials when I was a kid in NY state. Cookie Puss was an ice cream cake that was sort of pear shaped and it was a big face. They would run commercials where it was like flying in space and stuff. It sort of talked like a garbled Alvin the Chipmunk. Then the guy that did the voice for Carvel would come on and he had this old creepy voice. Then they had a Fudgie the Whale cake that was the same mold as Cookie Puss and one or two others.
I remember the Cookie Puss song, actually. Someone I knew at college had it. I have it now on that, "Some Old Bullshit," CD they have out. It's a funny song.

Check out Clams Casino's mix tapes. They were given away online but are hard to find now. DJ Cam is awesome.

I like that ok, but honestly I like it a little darker and colder than that.

Go though some of Dj Krush's stuff on youtube.
