Anybody going down to the Power and Light watch party? I'm about to get going. Lets go get this! RCJH KU

I just got out of the shower and was playing the CBS NCAA March Madness song. I'm such a dorkus

You might change your mind after Spellman hits a three or two and Udoka's inability to guard him becomes obvious.

Look, if anyone goes off hitting threes, they are a problem. I don't care if its a Villanova player or a KU player. The odds everyone who can hit threes is automatically going to is a fallacy. A team is lucky if they get two players hitting a crazy percentage from three.

More than two players? You simply aren't going to beat a team who is having that kind of night. So, it doesn't matter who the player happens to be that is going off, its how much do you limit the rest of the team from doing so. If Spellman goes off from three but we keep everyone else to an average night and KU isn't going cold, I like our chances... a lot.

If Villanova can't stop our inside players from scoring at will. That will become demoralizing. They will begin to press and take more questionable shots.

The only thing I'm worried about is if we go cold. If we go cold, especially early, we tend to become very average very quickly and look like the team that lost to average teams earlier in the season. Personally, I think the last OSU loss was more letdown after winning the title outright than an indication of where our team was really at and that was vindicated the very next week in the Tournament.

Nova is not a zone team, and they aren't "crazy athletic". They're a solid, disciplined and mature team at all five positions with better than average talent that looks better as long as they remain disciplined in their system. KU's challenge will be to create doubt in that system.

If they don't believe they can contain the post in the first half, they're going to have to adjust from what is comfortable for them. They are not a team that has had to make a lot of adjustments in their schedule. They made the other team adjust to them. Other teams on their schedule didn't have a Dok. Other teams on their schedule outside of Xavier didn't have perimeter players with skill and athleticism KU brings. They have to make Nova doubt their formula and feel like they have to adjust. I believe if you give Self 5 days to come up with a plan in how to do that, he will find it.

HolyHandgernade 03-31-2018 12:33 PM

From KUSports:

KU is 4-1 as an underdog, with victories at West Virginia, at Texas Tech, vs. West Virginia in the Big 12 title game and in the Duke game. The lone loss to a favorite came to Oklahoma in Norman.

Kansas as underdog doesn’t add up against any opponent anymore, even Villanova, which has been terrific all season and became even better late in the season, thanks to significantly better defense.

No team has improved as much as Kansas, thanks to the huge in-season strides made by three players: Azubuike, his backup, Silvio De Sousa, and guard Malik Newman.

Udoka can’t guard Spellman?

Nah, bitch. You got it backwards

Think Reaching the Final 4 Is Tough? Then You Haven't Met Kansas' Udoka Azubuike | Bleacher Report

LAWRENCE, Kansas — The bedroom door was slightly ajar, creating just enough space for the 10-year-old boy to peek inside.

Udoka Azubuike couldn't help himself that night eight years ago in Nigeria. He'd never heard sobs like this before—especially not from his father, Fabian, who sat on a mattress and scratched furiously at the golf-ball-sized sores on his swollen legs, the ones that had rendered him bedridden and unable to walk.

"My father was a proud man, a police officer," Azubuike says. "But when I looked through the door, I saw tears. My whole life, I had never seen my dad cry. The look on his face that night, the sadness…"

Azubuike pauses and rubs his eyes. Nearly a decade later, the image still haunts Kansas' 7-foot center.

"I'm sorry," he says. "I don't really like to talk about my past."

PRETTY sure I'm following this narrative. But gotta say, the fluid use of pronouns ain't helping.

'He told him to go there and they agreed to meet her and him here later with him and her and them.'

Villanove or KU will blow out either of those two teams. They are not even in the same talent stratosphere.

Loyola may shoot 3’s well but they can’t handle our or Villanovas speed and size. Big time mismatch.

Yup. Upsets never happen in the NCAA tournament. Maybe in other sporting events, but definitely not in the Tourney.

This from the guy who puts anti-Trump bullshit in the Hot Girl NSFW GIF thread.

I mean, you get there is a difference between being a 'grammar Nazi' over an inadvertent typo, and chuckling a little because someone posted a sentence where no one can tell for certain what the **** is even going on.

Down 9-2 already. Sometimes the other team makes shots and all you can do is watch.

Well we know they can’t shoot 100% from the 3 line all game.

Two of the shots were wide open threes because Azubuike can't guard bigs on the perimeter. That isn't going to stop as long as he's out there.

Zone is working for now. Might want to stick with De Sousa here too instead of a guy who doesn't have the lateral quickness to guard any of these 4s/5s.

It was obvious that them making only four three pointers last week was not good for KU but I wouldn’t have guessed they’d blow them out in the first half. I wonder what the record is for made threes in a tournament game.

KCTitus 03-31-2018 07:27 PM

10 for 17 from 3? That cannot hold...otherwise this is a blowout.

KC_Connection 03-31-2018 07:27 PM

Not sure why De Sousa was pulled out of the game for Azubuike when they've gone away from the zone.

tk13 03-31-2018 07:28 PM
