This is a remake.. Though more a reboot. This one takes a much more serious tone than what Raimi originally did. It will try to be the most gory, shit your pants scary movie yet.
And someone who has read the entire script has confirmed tree rape - for those asking.

I can see this being a little different I guess. No Bruce = A more serious movie. Not the same style movie but the same story I guess.

Yup. He and Raimi basically put it in Fede's hands. Bruce is really behind this remake.

I'll give it the old college try, just because of that. I know I'll never love it like I do the original(s), but I understand the interest in revamping it for a new audience. (Young kids who've never seen the original movies, and wouldn't give them a chance if they did.)

Of course, my teenage boys can quote Army of Darkness pretty much line for line..lol That's just a product of growing up with me.

Honestly, it looks a lot better than I expected.

I'll watch that for sure.

I always like Evil Dead better than Evil Dead 2

Two different kinds of movies so it's hard to compare. Evil Dead 2 went with a 50/50 hybrid of comedy (some unintentional) and horror, where the first one was almost 100% horror. Both great films though.

Onstage following a raucously well-received SXSW premiere of Sony’s Evil Dead remake, director Fede Alvarez announced that a sequel is being scripted. “We already started writing Evil Dead 2“, he said during a Q&A session at Austin’s Paramount Theatre. The April 5 horror release stars Jane Levy (Suburgatory), Shiloh Fernandez, Jessica Lucas, Lou Taylor Pucci, and Elizabeth Blackmore and is produced by original Evil Dead crew Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Rob Tapert.

I hate reboots and remakes and prequels and all that shit that has plagued cinema this era, but this looks entertaining at least. What's the only shit left from the 80s they haven't remade yet? Ghoulies? Critters? Gremlins? Silent Night, Deadly Night? I say bring on the ****in Ghoulies remake. I actually like that series. Yes, it's god damn terrible but it had cool looking rubber creatures charm.

well....this is from the 70's....but I'm very surprised that noones done the Six Million Dollar Man as a modern times movie. granted it'd have to be the Six Billion Dollar Man, but whatevah. they remade so much from the 70's/80's, why not Steve Austin!

I gotta admit....every time I see the preview....that....THING....at the 1:06 mark saying "we're gonna get you" actually makes me wonder just how uncomfortable I'm gonna be watching this. I mean...a scary movie that ACTUALLY scares you!?!? what a novelty!

Yeah it looks pretty sweet. I was so skeptical when I first heard they announced this. Once I saw the trailer and heard good reviews that eased my mind about it. Looks awesome. I'm driving up to KC on Friday to see it with my cousin.

Got tickets to see this tonight. I'm crazy excited.

Awesome. My friend is deathly afraid of this girl. He can't even watch the commercial. He said that since he saw The Excorcist when he was really young, creepy young girls freak him out. He's on vacation so I logged on his account at work and am making this his wallpaper. LMAO

Don't really like gore but I'm still excited to see it.

Post reviews. I'm genuinely interested to hear feedback on this one, probably becasue the reboot/remake is being done by the same guys that knocked it out of the park the first time. What a novel idea!

I was blown away by the trailer. It looks fricking amazing even though its a reboot. Jane Levy's scene shown in the pic above is what stuck with me the most. I heard her performance was great.

Yeah, it takes a lot to throw me off, and that's pretty disturbing.

I saw it tonight, it was good, not great, but good. It was pretty relentless when possessions started to go down. I have gripes that I would with any horror movie that didn't quite make sense in certain areas, but you have to suspend belief with most horror films to truly enjoy them. I personally think the original was just goofy. I'm sure if I would've seen it in the 80s or 90s I might have been a bit freaked out but its just so campy. This is a very good re-imagining of the first movie; brought forth with todays effects, gore, and action. The only scary things about this movie are those jump moments, where the theater turns up the volume that its almost impossible not to jump. Overall I'd give it a 7/10.

havent read this whole thread but for those that have seen it already is it worth seeing in theaters? I haven't seen a good horror film in a looong time.

It was good. My buddy loved it. But he gets scared easily.
It is worth seeing in a full theatre. Decently acted.

I want to see purge after the previews. I have been wanting that day for years.

Hated the dumb brother. Didn't care about the other characters. Felt like the sister while possessed was too much like the Exorcist demon. Didn't care for the ending at all. Felt like most of the good parts were in the trailer. Also, I would swear my theater was edited like crazy. Not sure how it was for everyone else, but the tongue scene and some others seemed tame compared to the red band trailer I saw. In the end, that doesn't really matter though. I just thought it was a pretty forgettable movie. I'm a huge fan of the originals too. I was pretty disappointed.

Also I don't know how to cloak spoilers, but there was a part towards the end that I laughed at because it was so silly. It seemed like it would have fit better with the originals than this one. It had to do with something the brother did to his sister...I'm sure you know what I mean.

So I got my other friend to record it. I wound up having Sunday off so I asked him to get it since it was my friend's first day back. I love that you can see the part in bold. ROFL

Hmmm. I was actually testing something out, and thought I had erased that post.

I get the feeling that the sequel have a new lead, because this one was rather weak but the end was groovy though.
