Veach said last offseason he wanted to pound out the DL.
He's just not going to have a better opportunity than this offseason: he has 12 picks, and he has a gargantuan amount of cap space. He makes a splash with Chubb, he drafts Ojulari high, he adds a Veachy depth option in Ferrell, he brings in a true 1-tech in Rankins, he drafts another plugger in Mustipher, and takes a high-upside athletic project in Orhorhoro. That's going to give you the DL you need in terms of depth, frequent rotations, and all kinds of options pushing Jones wide and rotating Karlaftis and Danna in. Maybe Kaindoh and/or Ferrell take off, but you're 4-deep anyway if they don't. It's a killer rotation that does everything you need it to do. The biggest draft acquisition is Broderick Jones, who I don't think they're going to have to move too far to get at this point. Brown is on a one-year lifeline before we let him walk, Jones mans the RT position before taking over LT in 2024. OL is pretty close to fixed. We add the best RB on the roster at the bottom of the 3rd. We replace Hardman with another speed demon in the midrounds, and why not throw in a Mormon for Andy at tight end. This team needs to be 4-deep anyway at TE. I think this team wins a Super Bowl as the Bills and Chargers feel the cap crunch, the Chiefs straight up lap the field. If the DL stays healthy this is potential 20-0 territory. |
Juju is getting a hell of a lot more than that in FA, either in KC or elsewhere

Here's the WR contracts, though. I can see him getting $15m/year, but considering he already has a sweetheart deal in place in KC, it's conceivable he takes a hometown discount. |
Why are we signing a QB when it's pretty obvious that Buechele is going to be the backup moving foward?

The clipboard holding experience with Mahomes/Reid is second-to-none, I'm sure. We'll get some dude for pennies. |
No thanks to any Brother****ing Cheatriot ****bag QBs. I've met my lifetime quota for those.
At a high level, what I want to see from the QB position is: 1. A backup we can trust. Think Matt Moore level. If Buchele is that guy, good. If not, go looking. But only have 2 guys on the roster. Take that roster spot for a developing playmaker or ST guy. UNLESS 2. Tradeable assets. There are some truly ****ing horribad QBs in the league. If we have a guy we believe we can flip for picks to assholes, get him on the roster. But shop his ass. |
Other than franchising Brown, I like it overall. I want a LT. Get a free agent RT.
I'd like to see a true WR that can play outside to replace JJSS or MVS than another small guy. We have Hardman's replacement in Moore. |
I don't love the investment in Bradlee Chubb. I see what you're doing, and it is a slim pickings market at DE. But I just don't trust the guy to stay healthy, sweet as it would be to lure him away from Denver and have him be a star.
I think Broderick Jones is one of a handful of OTs who will be in reasonable range for the Chiefs from their draft slot, so I'm good with that idea. Here's a maybe crazy idea for acquiring DL help: Da'Ron Payne of the Commanders. They committed to Jonathan Allen and have Montez Sweat and Chase Young coming due for extensions soon. Can they really afford to give all 4 starting DL a monster deal? Smart money says no. So how about focusing the second DL investment on another monster at DT to pair with Chris Jones? There isn't a lot of trade discussion around Payne right now, but I did see one Washington writer speculating about a trade and proposing moving Payne before THIS deadline for a Day 2 pick. Say the Chiefs send the Redskins a 3rd in 2023 and a 4th in 2024. Payne is on his fifth-year option right now, so you're trying to re-sign him after this year. I'm not quite sure he's franchise tag worthy. But he's a good run stuffer with the physical ability to rush the passer (which he may be breaking through on this year) So what do we think? Build the DL from the inside out? |

I agree on Chubb, injury record worries me. |
Broderick is too close to Brokedick for me to be comfortable with.
