I have a date.

I guess this will be the ****Official TMI Thread****

ChiefsFan4Life 06-22-2007 07:11 PM

Is this a "blind" date or have you both exchanged pics?

I have a date tomorrow afternoon with a man that I've been talking to from match.com. He travels a lot for his job. So much that he doesn't really call anyplace home. He's flying here from Chicago for the weekend. I've been talking to this guy on the phone and on IM for about three or four weeks now. I'm excited to finally meet him, yet I'm nervous since I know I'm the reason he's flying here.

Wish me luck!

And, no, he's not bringing grape Gatorade.

:hmmm: Sounds fishy. I bet he has six wives all in different cities.

LOL

I thought about stuff like that, too. I think he's alright. We're meeting somewhere public for lunch.

bogie 06-22-2007 07:13 PM

Where are you meeting him?

88TG88 06-22-2007 07:14 PM

He flew all the way from Chicago to meet you.

Wow, he is a better man than I.

He's 32. He's divorced. He has two kids, 7 and 3, that live with their mom in South Dakota. He likes to cook and woodwork. He's not really a big sports fan in general.

As my daddy used to say "be good, good at it or name it after me". I met the lady that I've been with for the last 10+ years thru the want ads but I'll reiterate be cautious and safe.

Mr. Kotter 06-22-2007 07:26 PM

I don't want to sound like an old fogey, or your dad, but....just be careful.

Remember, no matter how nice guys are, no matter how sincere we may appear, and no matter how much you think you know us....you have to always be aware of our motives.

If he's willing to spend time, effort, and patience, getting to know you. If he's open, and honest (...not hiding behind being "shy" or "wanting to move on from that part" of their life....or if things just generally seem to be, ambiguous)...and he seems genuinely interested in you and your life, then...well...it's probably worth the "risk."

Otherwise, you and I know he's looking for one thing. There's an old saying you've probably heard, that is really true about nearly every man I've ever known--including myself BTW. "If you are getting the milk for free, why buy the cow?"

:)

P.S. -- the tie in to Moooo is completely conincidental, though it is pretty funny...heh. :p

I guess I just like meeting people in real life like at bars, parties...and bars.

But hey, dont mind me. If you arent able to find someone the ol' fashion way then by all means find some poor sap online.

One of my friends met his fiance off some online thing, she is gorgeous as hell and cool, he got VERY lucky though. She just got bored and tried it after dating numerous assholes. It's a way to meet people i guess and see whats out there, makes it very easy for many.

Bars and parties. I don't think it's a relationship you're looking for. That, and Springfield is 52% female and 48% male. The only males that don't have SO's are figgin reeruned.

In the least, tell your dad. Hell, tell someone here and give a phone number. Then, when you get home, send that person a PM or give them a call.

It's really a smart thing to do. You've done one really smart thing in meeting him at a public place. Don't stop there -- keep doing the smart things, like making sure someone knows where you're supposed to be and when you're supposed to be home.
