It's actually pretty good and probably better than I expected. I'd say it's fairly fruity with a little bread. I don't think I taste any hops and it's not bitter at all. This is my first, and the only one I have, but it seems like a really nice summer beer that I'd definitely buy more of.

I've not seen it anywhere in Topeka. But, it is going to be the next beer I try.

The fruity you taste, is the hops. :thumb:

Rogue 5 Hazelnut Brown Nectar for me.

Loving this.

That could be, but I was thinking more orange or some shit. It doesn't seem to have the little hops smell or taste 80 acre does. 80 acre is one of my favorite regular summer beers and I think I'll add Zon to the regular summer list if I can find more of it.

There is probably some orange peel in the Zon as well but most of the citracy profile is hop flavor. Same for 80 Acre which is dry hopped with Nelson Sauvin hops. It is also one of my favorite beers.

I have a hoppy wheat beer I just kegged that is dry hopped with Cascade and Nelson Sauvin hops and you would swear it had grape fruit juice in it.

Tank 7 is an example of a beer with very fruity hops. Pretty amazing what different flavors hops can add, you then couple them with Belgian yeast and you can get really fruity spicy flavors.

GloryDayz 07-30-2013 08:54 PM

It's a fine Merlot for me tonight... My oldest son just passed his Eagle board of review and is, perhaps, still the newest Eagle scout in this fine country...

LIKE!!!

phisherman 07-30-2013 08:56 PM

Cantillon Kriek. It's good and so, so sour.

KCrockaholic 07-30-2013 10:34 PM

A few different Blue Moons tonight out of the seasonal section.

You guys can pick the next beer if you'd like and I'll give some feedback:

Well, I started with coke. It got a little strong so I cut it off at about 2. Then I had several shots of water. That got the old pecker a sprinkling. Now, obviously smashed and pissing clear I'm calling it a night.

Yep. I always get a 'whiff of grapefruit' from Tank 7, one of my fave Blvd's.

I get that more so with 80 Acre.

I haven't tried 80 Acres yet. It's now on the 'to do' list.

I like 80 even better than Tank 7, upon recent reflection.

Skol and tonics with a bit of lime.

A few beers, casual night at home.

Meh. Its indisputably a great beer, but that doesn't mean you have to like it.

I enjoyed that one.

After trying a few different Blue Moons from the current seasonal batch, that's probably my favorite. Rounder belgium pale ale was also pretty good.

Still love a normal Blue Moon was an orange though. Just perfect.

OK, now I'm with you. I found a 6 at Walmart today and these taste a little different than the single I had. The smell and taste on these is more of a "hoppy" fruit and there is a hell of a lot more shit floating in them. Can't see through these at all. Bottle date says they're a month younger, but either way they're still pretty damn good. :thumb:

Did Old Fashioneds all night long with Woodford Reserve. All. ****ing. Night. Bad news is my brain is a little sluggish today. Good news is that work is WAYYYYY SLOOW this week. Best news, whole thing was a work expense. So that was a couple hundred bucks on the ol' expense account.

Depends, if I DVR the game and go fishing I’ve got a couple of Boulevard PA’s and some Miller Lite. If I stay home and watch the game in the man cave it’ll be Cuban Libres.

I know you say it's overrated but when one brewery only strives to make one beer and perfect it you have my attention. The grapefruit aftertaste also got my attention. Truly the most unique DIPA I've ever had. Living in Montana I'm exposed to plenty of IPAs and this one sticks out the most.

I only say overrated in terms of its ranking on Beer Advocate's Top 250 list. #1, btw. Out of all beers. The beer geek community is overrating it in my opinion.

That said, it is absolutely world-class. There's only a tiny handful of double IPAs I've liked more.

And yea...hot as shit here for the past few days!

I made a Boulevardier for the first time last night (Basically a bourbon version of a Negroni). 1.25 oz. Bourbon, 1 oz Campari, 1 oz sweet vermouth (I used the King of vermouths: Carpano Antica). It was tremendous. A new favorite cocktail to make at the house.
