Golden Nugget was a hell of a deal for us last November. Couldn't beat the price at less than $70 per night. Of course, we went Sunday through Wednesday.

I keep hearing a lot of good things about GN.

May look into it a bit more.

If it's your GF's first trip to Vegas, you'll want to stay on the strip.

No true at all. My first trip to Vegas was the Nugget downtown while visiting the strip. Enjoyed the hell out of it. While I would like to experience a strip hotel at some point. I will always prefer downtown.

As a friend of mine put it, you visit the strip and come home to downtown.

My wife and I love the Nugget. Depends on the person and their age. I'm guessing 90% of 20-something girls want the strip.

Wherever you stay be sure and visit the Red Rooster on one of your nights in town. She'll be impressed at your insider's knowledge.

I will be showing her the "Red Rooster" more than once if she's lucky.

If you are looking to stay downtown, Priceline is the way to go. The Golden Nugget is the only 4-star property there, so if your bid is accepted, then you are getting the GN. Like I said, I got 3 nights at $65 per night. So $195 total pre tax/fees where it would normally cost $277.

I liked the Golden Nugget . Fremont Street is great. If I was going again, I'd want to stay on the strip.

I hear that. I've been to Vegas like 15 times and never stayed downtown.

I stayed on the strip the first two times. Went downtown for the third, and haven't stayed on the strip since. Am flying out in the AM for probably the 13th or 14th time (somewhere in that vicinity).
I always end up going TO the strip at least once to walk up/down, but prefer to play and stay downtown.
