I don't think so. He's more than willing to let her make that call. He laid all of his cards out on the table.

Final scene of the final season has to be Walter White walking into his office for the first time.

I think the driveway thing was about the phone call she asked about in the flashback. The scene where he told her what happened was instigated by the investigation, so it would be in the present.

MahiMike 03-11-2015 03:17 PM

I didn't realize this show had started already until I saw it here. I've been watching On Demand and am up to episode 5. Pretty good stuff. Definitely tell it's made by same guys as Breaking Bad. Their use of camera angles, obscure music choices and character building is very good.

I like the casting of Lenny as the brother and the use of Mike (or whatever his name is here) as the sticker Nazi is good. Only weak character for me is Saul's love interest. She's just ok.

Vince Gilligan Urges 'Breaking Bad' Fans to Stop Throwing Pizzas on Walter White's Roof

Vince Gilligan has had it with fans harassing the real-life owners of the home where Walter White (Bryan Cranston) lived in Breaking Bad.

The house, which was used for exterior shots of Breaking Bad, has become a tourist attraction, as have many other Breaking Bad landmarks. For the most part, its owners have been fine with fans stopping by to take photos, but things have deteriorated recently.

"Lately, we're hearing from the owner that folks are wandering on to her property, and are being rude to her when she comes out and basically says 'you're on my property,' " said Gilligan. "They are throwing pizzas on roofs and stuff like that. Let me tell you, there is nothing original or funny or cool about throwing a pizza on this lady's roof. It is just not funny. It's been done before. You are not the first."

Jonathan Banks, who plays tough guy Mike Ehrmantraut, added on the podcast, "If I catch you doing it, I will hunt you down."

In season three's episode "Caballo Sin Nombre," Walter brought over giant pepperoni pizza to his home in an attempt to make amends with Skyler (Anna Gunn). When she rejected his overtures, he threw the pizza on the roof in frustration — with Cranston famously doing the move in one shot. The scene has become a fan favorite, but the reenactments of it have grown old fast for Gilligan and the homeowner.

"We love our fans. I don't love those fans. I don't consider them fans," said Gilligan.

In 2013, homeowner Fran said most of the fans were respectful, and said she was a huge fan of the show.

"Last month we had 404 cars here that I saw," Fran said. "We've met people from all over the world, and it's been amazing."

I really like how they are setting up a long narrative of the journey Jimmy takes as we see him now to when he meets, and what he does, with Walt.

We know the writers can construct a long detailed gripping narrative, and these early episodes are like walking outside Oklahoma Joe's smelling the smoke emanating from it.

It's just baffling to imagine what the hell is going to happen to make Jimmy into Saul. This last episode appears to be the first real step.

Baby Lee 03-19-2015 08:35 AM

Also, I was thinking about this, and think there was a subtle character cue implanted by the writers.

Saul is always parking in the court parking
He's always leaving an empty lot
He always needs more stickers than he has

I think they were consciously trying to establish Jimmy from the very first as a go getter who burns the midnight oil. So long as he's been an attorney, he hasn't been a slouch.

Sure-Oz 03-19-2015 11:05 AM

The Pollos work is in the future. I am on board with Mike being a tough bad-ass in the present. But how does he know how to mark cash with UV spray, and enter an occupied domicile with ninja quietness. When did he develop those skills?

It's a stretch, but he's not jacking art from the Louvre. There are a lot of substances that will fluoresce under UV light. All he really needed to do was pick a lock, and we know that he has skills in subterfuge based upon him getting into the cop car with a string (which, I believe, requires a great deal of dramatic license).

The hardest part to believe is that Mr. Kettleman would take the trash out that night and just happen to notice the bills in the back of the RC truck that is on the ground, ten feet away from where he's looking.

Money.

I've had offers of up to $12,000 a day to shoot in my home. The problem is that that money often goes towards the repairs caused by the crew.

An exterior shot is probably half that but you're opening up your home to the kind of nonsense this family is experiencing.

DaneMcCloud 03-22-2015 12:45 PM

I finally caught up to this show the past few days. I've never seen a TV program with so many expectations from fans and media actually immdiately exceed those lofty expectations.

One of my friends and former roomies is the sound mixer of Saul (and The Good Wife, BabyLee) and I was told the show was good but I didn't expect it to be *this* good.

Vimce Gilligan has now entered that David Chase/Matthew Weiner strata.

This shit is so good. I get ****ing immersed in it and forget sometimes that he turns to Saul. I forget Mike became a drug dealer henchmen. I didn't expect it to be even in this universe.

Sauls character in BB was a lot of comic relief. There isn't much comedy in his story here, but his clever little quips are still around. It's very well done. Like when he tells Mrs Kettlemen that even on a good day her and logic are disconnected made me laugh my ass off, but it wasn't just him being a smart ass, he was freaking distract he gave his money away. It was a very nice transition from his BB character to this one.

Just awesome.

If you watched the roundtable above, they get into that. Jonathan Banks is not an actor who likes improv. He wants things laid out and rehearsed ahead of time. He bitches about working on Hangover II, saying he told the improv heavy cast 'I'm going over here, you guys do whatever it is you're doing. When you're through, tell me my cue and we'll go.'

Odenkirk also noted that there was considerable debate when a line was changed from 'last Wednesday' to 'last Tuesday' in the written script

For positive or negative, these episodes are writer's vision episodes. They have specific marks and lines and camera angles that they seek to tie together into a coherent narrative from a precise POV.

There are other approaches, but the one RobBlake ascribes to BCS is accurate.

Gonzo 03-24-2015 05:50 AM

It's pretty rare for me to get so immersed into a story that I actually get pissed off that it ends so soon. This show does that almost every week. Yesterday's episode wasn't all that action packed but the story is so good that I just get lost in it.
I'm really curious as to how this lawsuit gets derailed. It's also looking fairly likely that we're going to see Mr. Fring here pretty quick.
