We have different outlooks in FF. I much rather swing for the fences on an elite talent and guy in a great situation but has injury concerns (McFadden, Matthews, Richardson) than play it safe and get a normal season that you would get out of Jennings, especially when you consider the depth at wr this year. Those guys can win leagues for you. Jennings isn't going to do that. I wouldn't go wr early this year except for Calvin but if I were give me Julio ten times out of ten over Jennings. Higher upside.

I probably would have taken McFadden in that spot but if you asked me yesterday morning it might have been Matthews.

McFadden had the same injury that LJ had, and he sucked afterwards. Its the same injury that Ronnie Brown had, and he sucked afterwards.

I do not see McFadden performing well or even finishing the season.

I would have taken Fitz over Jennings.

Understandable but the risk/reward is worth it in my opinion. Different viewpoints like I said. He's dynamite if healthy and a top 2/3 RB if he's healthy. I'd be willing to take the risk late in the 1st. Playing it safe is not the way to win leagues imo.

So, you have the #7 pick overall. And you pick seventh each round.

You traded your fourth rounder last year.

Does your mindset change with the first three picks?

What was your original mindset?

I'm pretty skiddish about WRs in round one. If I had to guess Megatron will be there. I know that's probably still a home run though.

Unless a RB like Rice or McCoy falls.

Almost assuredly Rodgers, Foster, Brady, Brees will be gone.

That leaves McCoy, Rice or Megatron there at #7.

What's your starting lineup look like? Are you keeping anyone? PPR?

Complete redraft.

No ppr.

I would probably rank them.

1a. Rice
1b. McCoy
2. Megatron

You really can't go wrong with either one of those three at the 7th pick.

I wouldn't overthink it. Whoever falls out of Megatron, Rice, and McCoy.

I'm against drafting WR early this year too but Megatron is the exception. Too dominant and too good.

Since you don't have a fourth rounder I would probably target a RB next since it's so shallow and qb and wr are deep. You can def. get good receivers, tight ends and qbs after round 4 but running backs? Not so much. But it's hard to say for sure without seeing how the draft unfolds.

I know Megatron is an exception to the rule.

But, for me it is tough drafting a WR in the first round. I'm hoping McCoy or Rice fall to me.

I need to find a league like yours if McCoy or Rice fall to 7 lol.

Big upcoming weekend for me.

Draft on Saturday and Sunday.

Saturday is a redraft league, which'll turn into a keeper league. $40 buy-in IDP -- super fun league.

Sunday is the second annual family league. $10 entry. Not a whole lot -- but, bragging rights and a trophy for the year is normally a good time.

mcaj22 08-14-2012 04:16 AM

i don't usually post here but I need help with a very odd/weird fantasy league i joined at the last minute (40 buy in) and I am just so lost confused/had such a bad draft I was hoping for any help to look for potential sleepers/FAs that might break out this year cause I'll need them.

The scoring is a little off, I know it's not standard scoring and it is a league that has a bunch of those crazy bonuses like 5 points for a 200+ yard rushing game or 1 point for a 40+ yard pass. At least I dont remember stuff like that being standard fantasy scoring

anyway here is my awful team

QB - Cam Newton, RGIII, Jay Cutler, Tim Tebow
RB - Roy Helu, Green Ellis, Taiwan Jones, McCluster (lol)
WR - Vincent Jackson, Pierre Garcon, Heyward Bey, Jon Baldwin
TE - Rob Gronkowski, Vernon Davis, Coby Fleener
DEF - Chiefs

McCluster and Baldwin were my last two picks out of desperation and hope one of them might get lucky and break out/homerism on my end. I know I need help at RB badly, and I already got an offer for Vernon Davis for Antonio Brown and I am considering doing it since I dont need two TEs, even though I can play two at the same time.

QB heavy because you can play two QBs at once, and the potential of 4 scrambling QBs is a threat in rushing as well to hit any of the bonuses at any given week imo, so I stashed Tebow and RGIII, well I actually reached high for RGIII and Cam was my first round pick. Cutler I got good value on so I couldnt pass him up.

It's non-ppr. Any RB or WR I could stash of the waiver wire would be big help. Am I right in thinking that guys like Kendall Hunter and Jaquizz Rodgers are worth taking a stash on? How about Kendall Wright for the Titans? Anyone else? Also is Vernon Davis for Antonio Brown worth it or should I just deploy Gronk and Vernon week to week. I can play one at flex.

a starting lineup would be

QB - Cam Newton
RB - Helu
RB- Lawfirm
WR - VJax
WR - Garcon
TE - Gronk
Flex- Vern Davis
OP (you can play a QB here) - RGIII
DEF - Chiefs

I mean how much is RB or WR worth here if I can play two red zone threat TEs and two QBs? I know playing two TE's usually isnt a good idea but at that point going for both of them was BPA at the time when others ahead made runs at good RBs/WRs etc and there was such a drop off that I grabbed the 1 and 3 rated TEs off the sheet out of panic.

What a messed up structure, i am so lost with this set up.
