ThaVirus 06-21-2017 04:41 PM

As usual, just so much to say.. to keep it short: that shot of Thoros with the enflamed sword was badass.

Most intriguing part of the trailer for me was probably the final shot of Jon hacking someone down. Who/what was it? Are those men or wights watching in the background? What's the context?

L.A. Chieffan 06-21-2017 04:47 PM

It didn't look like Thoros, it looked like Beric Dondarrion who used that sword in the fight with the Hound.

I'm officially excited after watching that.

Arya is noticeably absent. I think she's going full badass this season.

Arya is riding a horse with a look of concern on her face, then later there's a shot of her pulling Needle from her scabbard.

Where was Jaime? He was on a castle wall - Casterly Rock, fighting the Unsullied perhaps?

Fish 06-23-2017 08:24 AM

You can see in one scene, where it looks like Beric is fighting alongside Jon against a Wildling/Wight horde. Weird that they would be fighting together...

Jon's placement in the trailors is getting me the most curious.

Emergency awesome claims we also see Jon at Dragon Rock.

Does he go south, then north. Does he go north, then south?

My guess has to be south then north past the wall, otherwise these suspense scenes of jon fighting wouldn't be suspenseful.

keg in kc 06-23-2017 11:25 AM

My guess is he's north of the wall first, is saved by Dany after things go badly and then taken to Dragonstone with her.

ModSocks 06-23-2017 12:00 PM

So....Beric is Azor Ahai?

He has the flaming sword but that doesn't necessarily make him Azor Ahai. He always had the sword since like season 2.

I can get behind that too.

One would think that would happen towards the end, yes?

underEJ 06-23-2017 01:42 PM

There are also thoughts that he goes south to dragon stone first to get dragon glass before going north for a fight.. Both ideas are plausible.

And I haven't watched anyones Beric azor ahai videos yet. I was surprised to see that connection. To me, "wields a flaming sword" and "lights my sword on fire" (cough cough Stannis) are two very different things. Is there more to the argument than the flaming sword?

Looking at the scene / gif again it looks like there are wights climbing towards the top with Wildings coming up behind them. Perhaps a group coming to help?

There is a theory out there the the Wights recognize John Snow as someone that has died. That might play into the season in some manner.

No. He just lights his sword on fire, like he did when fighting the Hound. I personally think the sword Sam stole from his father will somehow end up being the flaming sword Jon Snow picks up after Sam drops it.

I also think the Wall will be broken through at the end of the season whether if it's by the horn or something to do with Bran.

Also. Sansa will probably have Ramsey's baby.

And I'm curious of Jorah shows up the season, I kind of assumed he'd be the one to unite Danny and Jon.

So I just caught something. At 2:35 the raven closest in the shot has normal eyes, then at 2:36 his eyes go milk white. It's as if Bran is warging into the raven flying over a battle.

Anyone else catch that?

Stanis Bartheon had taken over Dragonstone before heading north to eventually burn his daughter at the stake and die after losing in battle to Ramsey Bolton at Winterfell.

Guess nobody thought to fortify it...and because the plot dictates it to be abandoned.

Keep in mind this happened in history literally all the time. Castles were elaborately constructed, and then altogether abandoned, sometimes in days. This was especially true in areas that lacked natural resources.

Its true that people usually didn't live in them all the time because lets face it, they were built for defense and not creature comfort even in medieval times.

They wouldn't be totally abandoned though, usually a small detachment to at least hold them. Castles were abandoned in the later middle ages due to gunpowder cannons rather than just because. Whole new fortifications had to be built to defend against cannons.

Well, in that case the only two regions that would could defeat dragons are the North and Dorne. The North by doing the classic Russian scorched Earth tactics and Dorne like they did to Aegon, hit and run with small units while scattering the army across the desert to die or be ambushed. No concentration of forces to let a dragon be a force multiplier.

If we are to buy into the story being displayed in a linear fashion: Stannis died, Dany was taken away on Drogon's back, captured by the Dothraki horde, Vaes Dothrak was burned to the ground, Dany gained control of the Dothraki horde, the Sons of the Harpy revolted, Tyrion took control of Myreen, the slave masters were slaughtered, Euron gained control of the Iron Islands, Dany formed an alliance with the Greyjoys, sailed The Narrow Sea, and arrived at Dragon Stone.

I believe it is safe to say the time since Stannis' death has been substantial.

Hammock Parties 07-16-2017 09:24 PM

Can't wait to see Samwell turn that bunch of old cucks at the citadel into his bitches.

Also it's a testament to the quality of the show that I immediately knew that was Arya masquerading as Walder Frey and still enjoyed the shit out of the scene, and likewise with Euron Greyjoy storming off to find what will obviously be Dragonbinder.

Minor complaint: where's my badass shot of the dragons perching themselves atop Dragonstone? C'mon now.

Interesting. I didn't think about the horn as the gift. I thought it would be the decimation of Dany's fleet, but that is an interesting perspective.

Arya has the worst timing and direction I have ever seen. Headed home? Joins with the Brotherhood; kidnapped by The Hound, headed North, sees family die. Her family retakes Winterfell, and she is at The Twins, heads South.

It could be that, but it doesn't make much sense plotwise. Dany's army has to reach the mainland for the story to progress, right?
