Is Miami screwed?

BigRedChief 09-05-2017 07:11 AM

I'm in the Tampa area. This area has never taken a direct hit from a hurricane. I live on the water just off shore on an Island.

Talking to the old timers, this one has them spooked. Maybe its what happened to Houston, Katrina and this is a Cat 5?

Most of these hurricanes come up from Miami and head up toward us. They lose a lot of power by the time they get up here to us. But, a cat 5 could be a Cat 2/3 by the time it hits our area.

Talked to some co-workers I worked with in the past that live in the Miami area and all of them are heading north. Kind of freaked me out when I offered my place for them to make it north and they said, not far enough north, you need to get out too.

Sarasota here, lots of people spooked on this one. Same people who are normally quite passive about hurricanes.

Weren't you going on in the Houston thread about how Texas sucked at evacuation and everything was nice and peachy during Florida evacuations? Cmon man, you guys can get out.

Mosbonian 09-05-2017 07:37 AM

Too many variations of where it could go to do anything but prepare. Depending on the model and direction we could be right in the middle of the hurricane or 200 miles west. Today and tomorrow will tell more
