Avengers: Infinity War

(Thinking we've abused the Civil War thread enough...)

This will be unbelievably good. Such a long term project finally coming to fruition.

Bowser 02-11-2017 03:26 PM

I wonder how much they're going to incorporate all the TV shows. To take on Thanos, they're going to need every bit of muscle they can get.

And saying that, I am going to assume the Darkhold from Agents will play a big part in any Thanos deterrent.

keg in kc 02-11-2017 03:30 PM

Last I head (not all that recent...) was that the TV shows won't have much of anything to do with the movies. None of the Defenders will be involved, for sure. And I'd assume the most we'll get with AoS is weak sister tie in's like around Civil War (not even as much as season one with Hydra appearing thanks to Winter Soldier, which has basically built everything since...).

unlurking 02-11-2017 07:40 PM

Going to have to re-read, but please God, give us back the Silver Surfer and Galactus.

Yeah. I think it has to do with the internal stuff at Marvel between Kevin Feige and Ike Perlmutter (Marvel's CEO). Feige has autonomy over Marvel Studios, but Marvel TV is still under Perlmutter.

On the other hand I do, to some extent, buy the logic that it's too tough logistically. Because movies have such longer lead times than TV, the TV characters in the movie would have to reflect what their status quo will be over a year from now.

What about the Netflix continuities?

That's the Defenders bit I mentioned. Last I heard they weren't going to be involved with Infinity War at all.

Bowser 02-11-2017 11:01 PM

Plus you have the bottom line - all those front line actors in all their respective shows are going to want to get paid. The price to make those would get jacked up quick fast with all of them on board.

Rasputin 02-13-2017 01:31 PM

I don't know why DC is bothering us with their movies now? They seem to just get it wrong or miss the fans pov. I don't think they give fans what we want but Marvel has does deliver.

This Is Your First Look at Avengers: Infinity War's Thanos

At D23 Expo, going on right now, Marvel unveiled a life-size statue of Thanos as he’ll appear in Avengers: Infinity War. And unlike previous glimpses of the Mad Titan that we’ve seen, this Thanos came dressed to kill.

ThaVirus 07-15-2017 02:37 PM

Awesome. He looks intimidating as hell.

I wonder how big he'll be in comparison to Hulk..

ThaVirus 07-15-2017 03:36 PM

Speaking of, Thanos has some legit shit kicking boots on. If he doesn't have a direct confrontation with Hulk I'll swear off the MCU for good.

The Franchise 07-15-2017 04:26 PM

Is he wearing two right boots? The boot in his left foot looks ****ing weird. Maybe it's the angle.

Brie Larson, Tom Hiddleston

It's actually from the Kong:Skull Island premiere

But since they're both in Avengers and it's a much bigger film/subject here, I posted it in this thread, instead of looking up/creating one for Kong.

Here's a good synopsis I found of the leaked trailer, cause it's hard to really see what all is going on:

Spoiler!

Bowser 03-05-2018 02:00 PM

Is there an Infinity Stone buried in Wakanda? Would explain how a meteorite crashing into their land would transmute the land around it into vibranium....

The stones and their known whereabouts -

Power Stone - Locked up with Nova Corp.
Mind Stone - On Vision's noggin
Time Stone - With Dr. Strange in the Eye of Agamotto
Space Stone (Tesseract) - In Loki's possession
Reality Stone - In the Collector's possession on Knowhere

Soul Stone - In the Wakandan mines?

I've always thought the Soul Stone was with Heimdall in Asgard, but after seeing him in action in Thor: Ragnarok, I don't think so. He would have been able to take on and defeat Hela single handedly if he had use of an Infinity Stone.

ThaVirus 03-05-2018 05:57 PM

That's the best bet.

I wonder if there might be something more to it, though. They've been playing this one close to the vest.

Deberg_1990 03-05-2018 06:42 PM

It will be interesting to see if Black Panther will outgross Infinity War.

Less Competition in February/March than there will be in May...

The Audience was very extremely expanded with BP.

Lots of people that wouldnt normally see a Marvel Superhero film were drawn to BP. Some of those people wont follow thru and go see Infinity War.

Bowser 03-05-2018 06:46 PM

Nah, don't see that happening at all. This is literally every Marvel superhero movie smashed into one. This will be the top grosser of the year in box office sales.

Bowser 03-05-2018 06:48 PM

Now if THIS happens -

IF that's the case?

Red Skull. Thanos found him floating around in the ether and brought him back as Cosmic Skull. That would be the huge reveal, imo. Plus, Hugo Weaving is a big name and the fans would definitely react to seeing him.

That would be my guess. He was transported somewhere and I'm guessing, Thanos finds him.

Also, which of the stones was contained with the Either?

Eh, agree to disagree. You're not necessarily wrong, but I like how Hugo Weaving played him. Power him up to be Thanos' lackey, and it could get interesting.

And if not him, then who from the MCU that has died could it be? Ronan the Accuser? I'd be fine with that, too (plus he's a major player in the cosmic side of the comics).

They don't do stupid shit like they do with DC movies and cut the run time down to get more showings in. They prefer quality over quantity.
