Batman The Animated Series

So I just recently picked up the complete series on Blu Ray....and goddamn I forgot how good this series was.

It's the best Batman interpretation in any medium and the upgrades they did with this for BR are amazing, looks and sounds out of this world.

I loved this cartoon as a kid but had forgot so much about it and watching it again makes me appreciate how good it was. The storytelling is top notch, rarely a bad episode, and one of the few cartoons that both children and adults can enjoy.

So what's everyone else's feelings on this? Stories, favorite episodes, thoughts?

BTW if you have the $$ and are a fan of this show, the Special Edition set is a no brainer...comes with 2 movies as well as the entire run, some cool special features and interviews, etc. and you get a digital code for it as well.

Did you buy it online?

Amazon...it's pretty much available everywhere.

Great cartoon. It's amazing how much story they could cram into a little over 20 minutes. Fantastic voice casting. Best version of Batman, imo.

Heart of Ice is one of the best episodes of TV period...cartoon or not.

So good.

They had it on Amazon Prime a few months ago so I was re-watching it before bed every night. It’s dark, literally and figuratively- it’s a great show to fall asleep to.

I didn’t get a chance to make it all the way through so I’m going to have to do that soon.

I’ve actually been re-watching the X-Men animated series from the 90’s. The nostalgia is insane.

I figure I’ll finish X-Men, then go through Batman, then Gargoyles and finally the Spider-Man animated series.

I need to watch this as well...loved that cartoon. It was on Netflix, just might buy the seasons on Prime, think they're like $15 a season or something.

I'm not up on modern kids shows, but has there ever been a cartoon that comes close to the high quality writing, voice acting, and music of TAS?

Batman Beyond was pretty damn good too, imo.

I'm on season 3 of the X-Men Animated series and have BTA along with Justice League Unlimited queued up next. Good shit.

I've also got the original Thundercats but gotta wait until the wife gets time as she because she was a huge fan as a kid as well.

X-Men is great if you can get past the 90's cheesiness. The costumes are awesome and they really did a great job of hitting nearly every classic X-Men storyline.

Batman is incredible too. Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill's voice acting is second to none.

I own that Blu-ray set too. It's fantastic. I'd recommend Young Justice s1&2 as well...that show is the modern BTAS, great stories, characters. S3 just started on the DCU app.

One of my favorite shows ever. Amazing how well it holds up even today. Its a real work of art. Even though it was still great, I didnt care for a lot of the redesign choices they made when it changed to "The New Batman Adventures".

My favorite episode is possibly Perchance to Dream. I also like Almost Got Im, Two-Face parts 1&2, Second Chance, Heart of Ice, Mad as a Hatter. Hell way too many to list.

Jerm 02-06-2019 06:07 PM

Two-Face 1&2 is right up there for me as well...Beware The Grey Ghost too.

Like you said, too many to list.

Also can't forget the continuation of this series, "The New Batman Adventures," which had "Over the Edge" and an episode where Harley Quinn emerges from a giant cream pie for Joker, and he couldn't care less.

CoMoChief 02-06-2019 07:31 PM

Is this the old skool cartoon from the 90's?

Loved that shit...grew up watching that before/after school.
