Football history if the patriots and broncos didn't cheat.

I've been thinking about this recently. It would take forever to fully simulate all of the past seasons and figure out who the rightful Super Bowl winners would be if the patriots and broncos (and tom brady) weren't cheating. But we can do a quick shorthand analysis.

For these purposes, I assumed the following:

For every Super Bowl that the cheating teams appeared in, I looked to see who their opponents were in the AFC champtonship games. I then compared the NFC Super Bowl team against the rightful AFC champion and awarded the Super Bowl trophy to the team with the best regular season record. (I reversed the process for the most recent super Bowl since the cheating team was in the NFC.

I present below the true Super Bowl winners of the past 26 years, and in parentheses I included the team that received the trophy.

55 Chiefs (Cheaters)
54 Chiefs (Chiefs)
53 Rams (Cheaters)
52 Eagles (Eagles)
51 Falcons (Cheaters)
50 Panthers (Other Cheaters)
49 Seahawks (Cheaters)
48 Seahawks (Seahawks)
47 Ravens (Ravens)
46 Ravens (Giants)
45 Packers (Packers)
44 Saints (Saints)
43 Steelers (Steelers)
42 Chargers (Giants)
41 Colts (Colts)
40 Steelers (Steelers)
39 Steelers (Cheaters)
38 Colts (Cheaters)
37 Buccaneers (Buccaneers)
36 Rams (Cheaters)
35 Ravens (Ravens)
34 Rams Rams
33 Falcons (Other Cheaters)
32 Packers (Other Cheaters)
31 Packers Packers
30 Cowboys Cowboys

A number of interesting things would have happened if the patriots and broncos didn't cheat.

First, Roethlisberger would have been legendary for winning the Super Bowl during his first two seasons and 3 of his first 5.

Second, Manning would have actually earned his second Super Bowl ring instead of being awarded one by the league when he retired.

Third, Marty would have a ring, which would be great even if it was with the Chargers.

Fourth, the Ravens, Seahawks, and Chiefs would have two consecutive wins, and the Chiefs would be on target for their third coming up. (And we all know they would have beaten the Rams too, but I had to follow my own rules)

I wish we had experienced this world.

I know you needed to have a clear standard, but we would've destroyed the Rams.

Edit: missed you pointing this out but damn...

Hell, go back to Super Bowl 32. The Donks would still have 0 Super Bowls. I assume the Chiefs would at least be in the big game, though they might have lost to the Favre Packers. But if they did win the Super Bowl in this alternate timeline, Marty would have two rings.

Yeah, there's no question. We'd be looking for a four-peat right now.

Excellent point. I'll add them.

No ring for Marty per my rules since he never made it to the championship game. Sadly, he'll have to settle for one ring.

Two things are for sure..If the Donks didnt cheat the cap to pay Davis...Elway would have retired the loser he is.

If Manning wasn't juiced on HGH...the Donks would have been bottom feeders for almost a decade.

Put these two together..and that shit franchise would have zero SB wins.

They have literally never won one without their QB cheating in one way or another..

I thought I'd repeat a bit of REAL football history for the younger Chief fans...

Manning was a football god in Indy...they have a statue of him. If they thought he had even a 10% chance of playing football again at a high level, they would have kept him. Might have still drafted Luck...but he would have been their QB.

EVERY medical expert said he was done...that's why they moved on.

Elway signs Manning...and he magically defies all logic and the latest in medical technology. He's back to his old self...like nothing ever happened. ..it's a "miracle".

When you start to peel back the layers of this miracle recovery...you start to notice that maybe this really wasn't "God's will".

Manning was called out by someone who dealt with him about HGH. Manning sent goons to this guys house to intimidate him. Guy retracted as he didn't have the resources nor the motivation to bury him. He was just being honest...and didn't think it as worth it to be a whistleblower... Come to find out, Manning had HGH shipped to his house in his wife's name. Talk about crazy coincidences....Neutral man (that knows nothing about Manning's wife medical history) says Manning was taking HGH...then records say HGH was shipped to his house.

It gets better...2014 season Manning was rated as the #4 QB...39 TDs and 4800 yards. It was just unfortunate for him that the NFL decided to start testing for HGH in earnest for the upcoming season.

Elway meets with him and asks him to take a pay cut...the #4 ranked QB and one year removed from 55 TDs. "we really think you arent performing to our expectations".

They both knew their little ruse was up...Manning agrees to the price cut. He proceeds to have the biggest decline, in a one year period, than any QB in history...dropping from 4th best to 2nd worst in the NFL. QBs fall off over time...but nothing like this. He was a completely different player...overnight.

I would expand the cheaters list and amend your presumption about Roethlisberger to remove the SB 40 victory due to the atrocities of the refs in that game. That was a Jerome Bettis retirement gift.

agreed. I do not believe the receiver got his toes down-and never will believe it. Cards should have won that game.

Love this exercise but I'm thrown off a little by Super Bowl 55. Are they just cheaters because Brady is on their team? Otherwise must be a ref conspiracy.

Hammock Parties 06-20-2021 09:17 AM

Chiefs would have two more.

97 and 2018

97 Chiefs would have curbstomped that Packers team. Because they did just that the year prior with ****ing Steve Bono.

Young Favre was not a good matchup for that defense.

I would literally read an entire forum full of nothing but posts from you and Prison Bitch.

You should have a podcast together, or at least a blog.

It's the brady thing, but that begets the other.
