And here we are. Long suffering Kansas City Chiefs fans. We finally get the very first pick in the NFL draft. Looking for a leader, a main mojo, a franchise guy to lift us out of our years and years and years of failure. A once in a generation chance to reverse the course, stop the losing, be competitive year after year, and what do we get?

I had actually planned on going to NY prior to Alex Smith. Now, I've settled for having a party at my place.

From what I can gather, the reason the mock drafts have us taking a tackle is because we let Winston go. Without a deal done for Albert the mockers thought the Chiefs needed a 1st round tackle? I am looking for the Chiefs to go elsewhere.

At this point we're ****ed. We've made it clear we're not giving Albert what he wants and we really don't have $3it at T.

Had we not signed Smith (CB) earlier we could have afforded to overpay Albert and take a Milliner or Xavier.

KK was saying today: "Chiefs have a franchise first round pick Tackle (Albert) and the first pick in the draft. We're now going to trade that to Miami, and get a potential first round pick franchise tackle (Joeckle or Fisher) and the 54th pick in the draft."

I think he's basically right. We're using the first pick to plug a self made hole. We could keep Albert and just pay him.

If they trade him, that would open up about $9 million in cap money, so they might be able to go get another free agent, like an inside linebacker to replace Belcher for example.

But it's a very sad use of the very first pick in the draft. Chiefs have drafted seven tackles in the first round since John Alt, and none have lasted in KC more than five years.

Simplicity coming out to support his true fan comrades.

I'll just be glad when it's over. You'd think looking forward to the No. 1 overall pick would be fun. ****. :shake:

Why the Joeckel hate? Geno Smith is a turd.

Honestly, that's a concern of mine. Whoever we draft, I hope he doesn't get unfairly saddled with the fact that he's not a quarterback. While we all want and need a quarterback, I'm certainly not going to hold against the guy we draft. I'll be a fan.

So we can't hold the first overall pick in teh draft, the highest pick in Chiefs history, to a high standard?

Of course. Once it's done, it's done. Although I have to confess if I were in NY at the draft I would boo the pick mercilessly. Figuring I could send a message, and also maybe it would cause that McNabb reverse mojo to kick in.

Jags will take Geno or Floyd. We're threatening Joker/Fisher to get a trade down and are confident we'll still get those players even if we do trade down. I love our strategy.

I can't wait till tomorrow is over, then we can breathe a sigh of relief. The countless months we've had to endure, the amount of emotional annoyance, guesswork, and endless frustrations will finally come to and end. Yes, Jaguar fans will be gone. We will have order once again.

There was a draft guru wank on 810 this AM, said the Dolphins GM is desperate to win this year, or its his ass. The draft wank guru thought the Chiefs would take Fisher because he's a better athlete, and that the Chiefs will get the #42 pick out of Miami for Albert, plus maybe another late round pick. If they can pull that off, it might not be so bad.

Also yesterday KK had Mitch Holthaus on. Mitch was (of course) shilling for the Chiefs. He said Free Agency and the Draft tie together. When you look at it, KC has brought in new guys at QB, TE, CB, WR and DT. And we're probably going to draft a starting LT and inside linebacker. So that's seven out of 22 starting positions that have turned over, plus Stephenson will take Winston's spot, so that's 8 out of 22. Also, we were able to keep Bowe and Colquitt. So I guess if you look at the big picture, they have been incredibly active this off season making changes.

Exactly what ive been thinking all along. There wont be many starters come out of this draft.

Regardless the 1.1 pick should greatly improve a team, not leave it almost the same.
