I've just gotten back into the swing of working out. But trying to gain muscle is harder than trying to lose fat. People can lose ten pounds of fat in a month. I'd have to be on some serious juice to gain ten pounds of muscle. As it is right now I'm about 140 pounds.

Also, I am blonde. And I have very fine hair. VERY FINE. I usually put something in it to make it look chunkier and then let it lay down. But I don't like that. I would love to do something interesting, but my hair sucks for anything that requires it to... stay in one place.

Yes, sir. I have an incredibly small frame. In high school I was 125-130. Even if I were a low body fat with a large amount of muscle, I'd be close to 150-155.

I edited my post above to be more comprehensive, as well.

FTR women really don't like guys as small as me. I've heard them say it to me. Being a scrawny guy is like being a fat chick.

Consider a faux-hawk, then. For sure. As far as working out, there is nobody on the board better to advise than Silock, not sure if you know, but, he's in the 'I just got done working out and this is what i'm eating' thread. Live and die by/on his advice. Also, I'm going to update the OP w/ some fresh ideas, soon. So keep your eye on that.

conservative 'True Religion' tees are phenomenally comfortable, they too, are very stylish w/o all of the skulls and bs juvenille graphics, i recently picked up one from Nordstrom Rack, wasn't cheap @ 24.95 however it's like wearing nothing, man they're comfortable, even more so than Hugo Boss and Juicy Couture tees,

well I can't find it online, but it's very subtle, has their horseshoe logo, it's a pale yellow w/ bold black bands on the end of the sleeves, very cool tee. I can't recommend this label enough, for comfort & fit alone.

any of you w/ medium shorter hair that ride a spiked or manipulated style that are looking for a good product, this is the one. Best I've used since 'fudge' products (ALA 1997.)

Clever Black Matte finished jar, w/ a smart 'quick-flip' top/cap. it doesn't take much of this. It IS something you have to 'WORK' in your hair for a while, i think the warmth will help it 'optimize' it's control. It's precious too, because you can hold it in your left hand as you crunch in your style w/ your right.

Well, I'm not style challenged, in fact I have pretty good style, I'd like to think. However, I am perplexed on this latest issue. I could use some help!

I'm meeting the long-distance gf for her best-friends wedding, and she is the maid of honor. I'd like to look good, since we obviously don't get to see each other as often as other couples. I will also be meeting friends and family this go around, so I need to not look like a slapdick.

She will be wearing a "jade" colored dress. The exact color can be found here:http://www.davidsbridal.com/Browse_B...colorName=Jade

Now, I'm not trying to "match" her dress, but I'd like to look good standing next to her, dancing, pictures, etc... so the colors need to not clash or look stupid. The reason I am in a pinch is because one of my normal, go-to colors (light blue) won't work on this go-around. Right now, Im thinking gray suit, white shirt, black tie. My concern is that it is too simple.

Colors that go well with Jade are silver, black, gold, cream, white, and pink.

My style: I am dark blonde, with light blue eyes, and moderately tan. I never wear yellow and pretty much steer clear of earth tones (browns, tan, dark green). I wear a tapered, euro-style suit with a slim tie when I dress suit-nice. I keep it simple, not a lot of crazy designs, mostly solid colors, with the occasional argyle tie.

Suit: Since it's a spring wedding, and I'd rather not look like I'm attending a funeral or prom, a black suit won't do. Because of her color, navy blue is out as well. I've pretty much settled on light gray, and am leaving the door open for a graphite gray (with a hint of shine). Any other options?

Belt/shoes: If the suit is gray, then Black. Simple enough.

Shirt/Tie: Now, in another situation, I would be open to a faint pink shirt, but I'd hate to make a douche impression and be "that guy" in pink. So, is my only option a white shirt? And the tie decision will be settled after the shirt is picked.

Any advice would be appreciated. I'm not insecure with the relationship whatsoever, I'm purely concerned with looking like an asshole in front of everyone in her life. I want to look good for her sake, so thanks in advance for any assistance.

My advice is not to ask for advice if you already have it already figured out.

Great Expectations 04-23-2011 06:08 PM

I'd go with a very light yellow shirt, so light it is almost off white.

I don't.

lazepoo 04-23-2011 09:24 PM

If you're trying to go as vanilla as possible, your original option of white shirt/black tie isn't a bad one.

You're pretty limited on shirt options - white is the way to go IMO. I wouldn't go with any shade of yellow because it will make you look jaundiced in all of the pictures, and for ****'s sake, why would you even consider a pink shirt with her dress?

If you're worried that your ensemble is too boring, pick out a good tie and some cufflinks. Take a pic of her dress with you to the store and match it against some ties to find colors that you like that also won't look dumb with her dress. Get one with a pattern, like a light paisley, or at least a little texture to the design. If you're just going to wear a solid color, you may as well save the cash and stick with the black tie you already mentioned.

And don't neglect the shoes/belt. The proper accessories can carry an otherwise average look.

HMc 04-23-2011 09:47 PM

I what you consider your best wedding appropriate combo. Unless you'll be in wedding party photos (you won't) you don't need to know how well your suit goes with her outfit. Frankly, it's a bit gay (or beta) to think about it.

I'd wear a slimfit dark navy suit, a white shirt and whatever tie you like. brown shoes perhaps.

and honestly, it may well still be cool in overland park but lose the slim ties -unless you're a member of The Killers, they look stupid.

SPATCH 04-23-2011 10:46 PM

If you're going to do the solid black tie, then it should be a cotton tie. Maybe throw a tie bar on if u want to stand out a little.

Although I love rocking my light pink shirt with my grey suit and black tie, the pink shirt might not work that well with jade... probably going to stick with the white shirt.

... and if you decide to wear a navy suit, the cool kids are wearing brown shoes/belt with em

Wrong, other than the Killers part.

I guess it depends how slim you're talking, tho. 2" is pretty in right now.

Dante84 04-24-2011 02:43 AM

Yeah, I'm not talking pencil-thin. Just skinnier than average, because I don't want to look like I'm borrowing one from the old man's collection. And they are still in style in OP, and KC for that matter. Also, I'm 25, so its not like I'm the 38 year old trying to fit in with the younger crowd: ["So, you guys heard of that new Kings of Leon band?"]

I pull it off just fine.

In regards to the "gay/beta" angle, if you had read my post fully, this issue hasn't arisen because I'm trying to impress her. I fart on her, for ****s sake. I am, however, concerned with making her feel as best she can on an important day; the day where her whole trust circle judges her based on me. The same way I wouldn't want her showing up to meet my family whilst wearing a neon tube top, I'd prefer not to look like an asshat in fugly clothing. Hence my post. I'd like to consider all angles before settling.

Also, Spatch, I agree... the lighter brown shoe/belt combo looks great with a richly colored blue suit.

HMc 04-24-2011 04:00 AM

turning up in an asshat wearing fugly clothing does not equal wearing your best outfit without being paranoid about matching her jade dress, and I never suggested it was.

I have to wonder, with CP perhaps not being a bastion of advice on sartorial elegance, whether you didn't just post so we'll all informed as to how stylin you are.

If you've got it all figured out...

Garbage. You're buying a $4 watch with a $96 logo. It's like buying a Kenneth Cole or Nike watch. Not exactly known for their timepieces, are they?

True, don't like the brand. I just thought they looked nice. Any ideas of good $100-$150 watches? I like the stainless steal silver look. Generally I like watches that have a big face on them.

If you're in that range, you say; go for the worst of the best - with ESQ - they're the same company as Movado, only their lesser tiered answer.

Additionally - you may check out American Apparel off of the Plaza. Just watch for 'skinny fit' - try EVERYTHING on there. Do you all have an HM there? that'd be another possibility.

Don't forget the Banana Republic, they'll have some cool clothes from time-to-time.

If you were here in Atlanta, i'd have more suggestions, but you all don't have the stores I had in mind.

True, don't like the brand. I just thought they looked nice. Any ideas of good $100-$150 watches? I like the stainless steal silver look. Generally I like watches that have a big face on them.

If you want a good value, try these (no personal experience with these watches, but I assume they're good quality).

www.chronoshark.com has some good watches for around $100 occasionally. If you can wait a couple of weeks they will normally have something on there, a Movado or something similar for around $100.

this thing looks crazy cheap. might even be too gaudy. It's like $200 min anywhere else I've seen online.
