Guesses: Does Berry play Sunday?

And do you want him to?

In58men 01-13-2019 10:29 PM

Yes, without a doubt.

If he doesn’t, I’ll go leave forever.

If you can't get up for the AFC title game, just schefule the damned surgery.

Would rather go without him.

FloridaMan88 01-13-2019 10:36 PM

I’ll go out on a limb and predict he’ll be day to day.

CervezaChill 01-13-2019 10:38 PM

Berry can probably keep up with broken Gronk on one leg. Battle of the brokedicks!

Where’s the “day to day” option?

smithandrew051 01-13-2019 10:43 PM

I have a hunch he might. If he does, he either has two weeks or an offseason to get ready for his next game.

Eleazar 01-13-2019 10:44 PM

Do we want him to? How ready can he be after playing so few snaps all year?

Dartgod 01-13-2019 10:45 PM

No, and don't care.

Gronk so broken that Berry can probably shut him down by yelling from the sidelines.

But I think he'll play.

PattyFlakes 01-13-2019 10:48 PM

Honestly I’m more concerned about whether DOD will play or not. He’d be our best matchup option against James White.

Simply Red 01-13-2019 10:58 PM

I don't think he will.

Simply Red 01-13-2019 10:59 PM

also don't think LDT will. Best case 2 games left. They'll not be playing, I don't think.

CupidStunt 01-13-2019 10:59 PM

Yes he'll play. Yes I want him to. And he'll make an impact.

Rain Man 01-13-2019 11:01 PM

Zero percent, and I'm over it. We're at this point without him, so we'll keep rolling.

Considering they designated LDT to return I'd be stunned if he isn't activated pretty fast.

Yea I expect Berry to go also because really if he can't go now why is he playing?

This. I was hopeful but after shutting it down after he played 2 games, I think the writing is on the wall that he just can't play and be counted on this year.

pugsnotdrugs19 01-14-2019 12:08 AM

I don’t think it makes a huge difference, but if he can play and isn’t going to be a liability, I hope he does.

Valid point. He didn’t get much if any run in the first game. Good for us.

Mecca 01-14-2019 12:10 AM

At this point Berry could be helpful playing that by the line safety spot he is a good run defender so if his speed is affected it won't be as big a deal there.

kysirsoze 01-14-2019 12:11 AM

I picked no, but despite everything it would be ****ing badass if he played.

If he does play, at this point I'd want him to be playing basically backup snaps. Come in for Sorensen/Lucas/Murray when they're tired or need a break. They shouldn't design a game plan around him starting and playing major minutes at all. Just stick to the normal plan and if he can give guys breathers, then that's what he should do.

Mecca 01-14-2019 12:14 AM

Eric Berry could at least cover Gronk, he's old and slow himself.

dlphg9 01-14-2019 12:19 AM

Eric Berry isn't going to play this week, but hes going to weasel his way into playing in the Super Bowl. This mother****er doesn't deserve to play. I'd rather have the young guys play then his worthless ass.

BWillie 01-14-2019 12:19 AM

I hope not. I'm done with Berry. I was on his side all year until he didn't play today. No excuse. Get your ass out there.

CupidStunt 01-14-2019 12:20 AM

One thing's for sure, a big performance and a Chiefs win would cancel out all the hate, the same way it has for Houston and the D in general. The way this season is going ... maybe that's what we're gonna get? We're up 28-26 and Brady is driving with a minute left, and Berry picks off a pass intended for Gronk to take us to the ship.

When he came back to practice, I made some posts about Berry potentially making a game changing play in Atlanta (home town) for the Super Bowl. It’s far from out of the question.

I don’t care how they win, just win!

It's crazy how people really think Berry just chose to quit on the team and doesn't want to play.

A guy who has quit or is too pussy to play doesn't do this

wazu 01-14-2019 12:53 AM

Yesterday was do-or-die. If Berry could have played I know he would have. But he’s done this year. Good news is Houston seems to have taken back the role of team leader and it’s showing up in big ways.

Yep...he doesn't even deserve to play a snap in the SB. Let the players risking and playing through pain enjoy the experience they earned..

Bump 01-14-2019 01:36 AM

The last thing I'd want to see is him out there for 3 quarters and if it's tight in the 4th quarter he's on the bench in the biggest game of our lives.

TwistedChief 01-14-2019 01:43 AM

I voted yes. I don't really think so, but I'd like to spend the entire week believing.

He's still the guy in the huddle before the game hyping the rest of the team up. Would be incredible to see him out there, however unlikely it may look at this point.

ROYC75 01-14-2019 01:51 AM

I said yes. Why? Just because, Chiefs!

CoMoChief 01-14-2019 02:07 AM

I voted No.

He' sat out for the entire year minus a couple handful of snaps in wk 15 and 16, so he could essentially save himself for a playoff run.

Now he's sat out the playoffs because he can't go...I mean if you're going to miss playoff games, then he has zero to offer this team and he should be placed on IR and then released post June 1.

I think he knows his playing days are over and purposely milked the Chiefs 1 more yr in salary pay, with Clark's blessing.

Oh Snap 01-14-2019 02:30 AM

A healthy berry is a huge asset. Hes one of my favorite players given all that hes gone thru. And hes a hell of a player and person. If he can come back and play at or near 100%, great! If not, continue to rehab and come back with a vengeance next season at full speed! Not worth risking further injury.

wheeler08 01-14-2019 07:02 AM

**** Eric Berry. He hasn’t played basically all year. He doesn’t deserve to play on this team at this point. We are fine without him. I don’t want him gettting any credit. I’d almost think some of the guys on defense don’t want the distraction of him anymore. Especially the guy playing his spot.

Chiefnj2 01-14-2019 07:04 AM

Hopefully. I think the Pats will try to run a lot. Berry's strength has always been disrupting the run in the box. Sorenson will get run over.

Maybe it's already been said but you left off the most obvious option; "Who gives a damn." Even if he played his impact would be minimal IMO.

arrwheader 01-14-2019 07:50 AM

We’re 0-2 with him in the game this year. I hope he doesn’t play, don’t disrupt what’s been working with the younger guys playing. Unless the coaches know he’s a liability and sub him in on running plays or special plays they have mixed in for him.

Like many, I don't care at this point. But I'm happy to see him out there if he goes. However, I want the game-plan made with the intention that Lucas is playing Berry's position instead of sitting behind Sorenson on the depth chart while hoping Berry will start. Since Berry would be unlikely to play much anyway, it would need to look like this w/ Parker inactive.

Lucas - Berry - Murray
Sorenson - Lucas

Otter 01-14-2019 08:42 AM

I don't even want him pretending he's going to play at this point.

UChieffyBugger 01-14-2019 08:55 AM

Lol i love how the Berry bashers are using the "0-2" against when..

1. When he was on the field against the Chargers we were winning and the defense was dominating. It all fell apart when he left.

2. He was forced to play Seattle with two rookies making their debuts and no Kendall Fuller as well.

But hey, keep trying to convince yourselves that we would be better with Dan frikking Sorensen if it makes you feel better :D .

kcpasco 01-14-2019 08:59 AM

I hope he plays. Could really use his great tackling even if he’s lost a step in coverage ability. He’s the only one of our DB’s that actually want to come up and make a tackle.

htismaqe 01-14-2019 09:02 AM

If he plays, great.

If he doesn't, great.

This is Patrick Mahomes' team. As he goes, so it goes. Can't wait for the game.

O.city 01-14-2019 09:03 AM

FloridaMan88 01-14-2019 09:04 AM

The Chiefs are 13-2 without Berry and 0-2 with Berry this season.

Just saying.

oldman 01-14-2019 09:13 AM

I think he'll play for a few snaps but won't be a major factor in the game. Do I care--Hell NO. If we win he'll lobby to start in Atlanta and I think that's the last thing we need right now. I've admired him in the past, but I've had it with the shenanigans that have gone on this year.

What about Spencer Ware's availability.

In short yardage situations and as a back-up to Damien Williams I still trust him more than the rookie Williams.

I like Williams but he is still a rookie UDFA

Meatloaf 01-14-2019 09:33 AM

Goodness, there's certainly a lot of frustration (bordering on hate) for Berry these days. I'm as frustrated as anyone that Berry hasn't been playing, but c'mon guys, you know as well as I do that this guy is a warrior. There is not one shred of QUIT in this guy as he had EVERY opportunity to do so when battling cancer, rehabbing from the Achilles tear, etc. And when he's been on the field this year, he sure looks to me like he's giving it his all.

Yeah, he makes a gazillion dollars and yeah the Chiefs did him no favors with that stupid day-to-day bullshit, but do you REALLY think this guy is faking it? Seriously? I think his teammates would be the first to know, yet it sure seems as if they still pay a ton of attention to what he says/does on the sideline. Do you really think they'd put up with fake bullshit? I know these guys aren't the second coming of Einstein, but give 'em a smidgen of credit for knowing/recognizing leadership when they see it. And trust me, you know as well as I that we'd be able to tell if his teammates felt Berry's behavior was just so much schtick.

Gentlemen, I fear this is simply another case where it frustrates us to no end when (argueably) our best defensive player isn't playing. Plus, knowing that he's making more $$$ than all of us (probably combined) adds to the frustration.

Hey, we are hosting the stinking AFC Championship game here at Arrowhead! Why get hung up on a situation that we really know very little about. Let's send as many positive vibes as we can muster to One Arrowhead Drive as we make our way to a World Championship!!!!

Go Chiefs!!!

chiefforlife 01-14-2019 09:33 AM

I think its more important to have DOD and Ware back.
With Ware back maybe West wont be active, he is the one who missed the block on the blocked punt.

threebag 01-14-2019 09:38 AM

Your right Meatloaf, he’s a Berry good cheerleader

Willie Roaf could hardly walk but still was a monster on game day.

Rain Man 01-14-2019 09:40 AM

In Berry's defense, he made a key stop in the Colts game. At one point Damien was running hard and got shoved out of bounds. It looked like he was about to hit the bench right in front of my seat, but at the last moment Berry grabbed him and stopped his momentum. I'm convinced that it kept Damien healthy.
