George's first single and first hit. Still stands up today.

And that woman that I had wrapped around my finger just come unwound

Not sure if I like the song, but God he looks and kinda sounds like his granddaddy

BillSelfsTrophycase 07-10-2012 01:11 AM

Shitty quality, but I like the Eagles and Clint Black...deal with it

Country fans let me know what you think of this. Jamey Johnson is my "contemporary hero." He's all throw back. There's a lot more where this came from.

Thanks in advance.

I like his sound but not a particular fan of that song.

Ok what do you think of these guys?

Pretty decent change up. Not great but I won't change the channel if they're on.

I'm a fan of older and traditional country....Most of the stuff coming out the past couple of years outside of some like Brad Paisley is crap imo. Garbage. I'd rather choke most of the newer artists on the radio pretending to be country than listen to them.

that said, I'm on a big "red dirt" kick lately.

My favorites by far right now are The Turnpike Troubadours. I've seen them live twice and they are outstanding.
My little girls love them and can sing quite a few of their songs front to back.

I really like their entire last album, but the new one has some great new songs, led by Gin, Smoke and Lies

This song is about the Illinois River near St Louis

Also really enjoy Jason Boland and the Stragglers, The Dirty River Boys, and I Like a band out of Missouri, The John D Hale Band. He's got an awesome version of Lights of LA County.

Here is a sample of the Dirty River Boys.
You about have to see them live to appreciate what they're doing. Watch the Drummer.

Fair enough. Thanks for listening and giving me your opinion. It's one of my favorite songs.

Here's another... and I apologize for the home made video. I have no idea why the maker of the vid used all the old pics of JJ. He hasn't had short hair on his head or face in years when he was a struggling musician and not even when this song/album came out. He looks totally foreign to me in 99% of the pics... they did at least one newer one with the longer hair and beard after the first chorus.

BTW the album "That Lonesome Song" that this comes from... as well as "High Cost of Livin" won the grammy for best country album a few years ago and several country-specific awards.

"Mowin Down The Roses"

Title track to the cd and another lame video that uses an old picture that doesn't even look like JJ. It must have been a girl that made these videos and thought he was "cuter" before he grew out his heair and beard.

Don't judge by the video... it's a great song.

This is from JJ's newest cd... double cd... "The Guitar Song." A little better viewing too. Jamey doesn't make videos and really doesn't do photoshoots. He's pretty much anti-Nashville and very much anti-Nashville-and-record-company-politics.

"That's How I Don't Love You"

Jamey wrote "Give It Away" for George Strait. This is a duet with Lee Ann Womack at the George Strait Artist of the Decade show a couple years ago. I love GS to death but this is even better. My favorite live performance video.
