I know this might be hard for you to believe, but most of the people who would probably spend 50k for that dinner wouldn't be thinking about it as "Let me round up my 9 best guy friends from CP for this dinner." Rather, it would be something with close friends and spouses and then she would be a perfect complement to the dinner.

um yeah, the people who "buy" this stuff already budget for these large donations. So this year instead of donating 50k to some cause, I spend it here and get a new experience out of it. This is not targeted to those who think donating 500 bucks is a big gift.

However I also hang around a lot of people who 500 bucks is like a 20 dollar bill. These people donate tens of thousands of dollars to colleges and universities and get club seats or luxury boxes. My point is that they are people who give a lot of money to causes in a given year and have the means to do so but in Many cases they are also rewarded with a lot of perks.
