BBC America's "Luther"

For all the fans of Idris Elba...
Quote:

Luther is a gripping, psychological thriller driven by a brilliant and emotionally impulsive detective tormented by the darker side of humanity.

A self-destructive near-genius, Luther might just be as dangerous as the depraved criminals he hunts. In each episode, the murderer's identity is known from the start, focusing the drama on the psychological duel between predator and prey.

Luther shines a light into the hearts and minds of psychopaths and killers, and the shadowy spaces of his own soul.

Premieres Sunday, October 17th @10/9c.
That would be tonight at 9. I'll give it a look. I think it only runs for 6 weeks.

So how was it?

The first hour was really good, but there were some problems in the final fifteen minutes. I think it's going to be a solid series. He's a great actor, and the show is unique enough that it doesn't feel like every other procedural on the air.

On a related note, there used to be a show on BBC America that I loved. For the life of me I can't remember the name. It was kind of a dark drama with a pair of detectives (woman and man) solving cases. Don't remember if they were regular police or perhaps Scotland Yard. Haven't seen it on in awhile (few years maybe). Anyone remember the name?

This show is really ****ing good. First season is only 6 episodes, FYI.

It aired in the UK like a year ago so you can just torrent the first season if you don't feel like waiting every week.

Nevermind, I found it. Took awhile but I found it. It was called Wire in the Blood. It apparently ran for 6 seasons. I found it on Netflix instant. :thumb:

BBC America is airing the entire first series on Sunday for folks who didn't catch it last year.

It's worth seeing...

Just watched the series on Netflix, and holy shit, this show is IN****INGSANE. The sanest moment of this show is ten times crazier than the craziest moment of season 5 of The Wire. It's consistently ridiculous and frequently on the verge of being straight-up laughable. But it's also immensely watchable, primarily thanks to Idris Elba and Ruth Wilson. Nowhere near The Wire, but definitely worth the time.
