Oh most of the story was true, but I don't really regret anything. It is what it is. Looking back doesn't really get you anywhere.

As far as money goes, I'm unfortunately in one of the worst down periods I've ever had with my job. I haven't had a major project in 6 months so right now I'm running on the fumes of fumes. I'm hoping things take a turn upward in the next couple of weeks, with what's supposed to be the beginning of my busy season. But it's been disturbingly quiet as far as client communication.

Reality is I may be facing a career change this summer. And a move, because I'd just gone into a more expensive apartment in September.

But I'm not the kind of guy who gets bent out of shape about this kind of stuff. I'll be fine. Always am.

I've lived in several states in America, but many of them I was a kid so I never truly got to experience what they had to offer. As it stands now, I've never been to NYC, Chicago, LA, Miami, on a cruise.. Shit, I've never even left the country!

NYC is dirty and loud and is OK for about two days, then you want to get the HELL out.

Chicago will freeze your balls off in the winter. Otherwise, you can have a lot of fun there.

LA is a hell hole. Avoid.

Miami: Last American out please turn out the lights.

Cruise Ship: Floating porta potty.

Rest of the World: Wished they were the USA.

You're not missing much, my friend.

1) Getting involved in drugs back in the day.
2) Getting educated about the QB position at Chiefs Planet.
3) tying my football fandom to the most inept and irrelevant franchise in the AFC.

That's about it.

1) Not learning Spanish in high school and undergrad.
2) Not doing the MA history joint degree. Although, this could have been a regret in itself. So, it's not too much of a regret.

I have a lot of other smaller regrets, too.

Not staying in the army for 15-20 years, getting out with a pension and still being plenty young enough to start a second career.

Not staying in college and using up all of the GI Bill i paid for.

I am a glass half full kinda guy.
So lets drink up.

Oh, and regret drinking so much.

The Franchise 03-13-2013 01:02 PM

1. Getting into drugs.
2. Dropping out of college when I was only 1 semester in.
3. Didn't get my degree while I was in the Air Force and I could have used TA.
4. Not getting serious about my weight until now (32).

This explains all of the anger in FA / Alex Smith threads.

That one's really rough for me. It's hard, changing so much in your 30s. And not just changing your body, but your lifestyle. I enjoy running and biking, which is great. But I also enjoy eating. Which is not.

Sometimes (way too often) I wish I'd never let myself get like this in my 20s. And there's no little envy for the people that didn't. There's a part of me that acknowledges that I'll probably never have a 2 pack, much less a 6, and I'm maybe a little jealous of the people who always have and still do, and how much easier it must be for them. Not that they didn't and don't work hard for it; that's not what I'm saying...

Well it is nice here but, of course, I'd like to get out and see what else the world has to offer. Variety is the spice of life!

Well I want to go to NYC just because its NYC, really. I've heard its a shit hole and you never want to live there, but I like the fast-paced city life and there is no city in America that matches that more closely than NYC.

I honestly don't have much desire to go to Chicago, other than to say I did it. My mother lives in Ohio so I've spent a lot of time in the Midwest. Gotta say I'm not a fan.

I was born on an old military base in Monterey, California but my dad was stationed in Kansas when I was 1 so I don't remember it. Truthfully, I don't need to go to LA but somewhere in So Cal would be nice. It seems to be the only place in the contiguous US that can rival Florida's weather.

Ya gotta go on a cruise, man! I've heard mixed reviews about them. I hear you get bored being couped up and the tipping/alcohol prices can be a bit ridiculous. I still have to experience for myself though. I have a friend that shares an August birthday with me who is talking about taking a cruise around that time. It'll be around our birthdays and my graduation so it could be a nice gift to myself. Only problem is, I hear cruises around September and October can get a bit bumpy and even the piratiest of pirates would get seasick...

As far as travelling outside of America, I really just want to experience different culture. I work with 4 Brazilians (from Brazil) and the stories they tell me about their country just make it sound so awesome. My boss is going back in 2014 for the World Cup and told me to start saving up now to go.

My main issue with travelling, though, is definitely the language factor. I can understand Spanish pretty well but have a lot of trouble speaking it. Outside of that and English, I know nothing.

Definitely man.....especially because I had all of the opportunities in my 20s. I was fat in highschool and I dropped 75 lbs to join the Air Force. I went to basic training and dropped another 20 lbs while I was there. Everything was good for the 1st year and then I slowly started gaining again. By the time I was done with my 4 year enlistment....I was back up to 240. It took me another 2-3 years to drop back down to 200. Then I got married....had kids and I'm back up to 250.
