The Punisher (Netflix series)

The Punisher Netflix Series Begins Filming

Quote:

Netflix and Marvel recently launched Luke Cage, which hit the streaming service just a few days ago, but the collaboration has bigger plans on the horizon. Next year will kick off with the premiere of Iron Fist before all the street-level heroes of New York team up in The Defenders. That means Netflix has a full slate of projects headed its way from the MCU, but it won’t stop there. The service has new seasons of both Daredevil and Jessica Jones coming soon, and it will also welcome perhaps the grittiest of all the heroes to the neighborhood when The Punisher gets his own solo series.

Given the response from the character’s debut in Daredevil season 2, the series has been on the fast track, going from speculation to confirmation in a remarkably short amount of time. And if a new batch of set photos are any indication, it seems that production on the series has officially gotten underway in New York.

More at the link.

An executive producer, not Bryan Fuller. He's doing Star Trek.

I hope it goes like the Daredevil S2 portrayal.

That scene in the graveyard is one of the best small screen scenes I've seen. It was Absolutely incredible.

Looks like Netflix will finally go dark enough to really make it happen.

From what I'm hearing he's not a redeemable character. He's out for vengeance and it will get worse before it gets worse...

Marvel found a way to make me like Metallica again.

Not only did they juice the trailer with ONE but they used the editing/style (I'm not a director - I'm not familiar with the lingo) of video that the "Unforgiven" music video did.

A very similar style. If people who cut trailers get awards whomever cut this should get ONE...

I watched the first 2 with my buddy in 4K. It was amazing. Very well done IMO. Even to the point where he made the poker game douches look like a suicide. Wow. That’s good shit.

They’re handling the PTSD in a smart way IMO (please note I don’t have it and do not make those statements from a position of expertise). I read that they had to push the drop date because of the Vegas shooter. I get it. But I don’t see the correlation. Maybe it is because I approach life with common sense. But I am really glad they’re doing the character with some depth and finesse rather than just a merely mind boggling number of killings. Which is essentially what the Thomas Jane movie was about. Which I was totally on board with. But man this is good shit.

Just finished it, great show and good bounce back for the Marvel Netflix shows, regardless of how much longer they're together. The PTSD soldier storylines that are the heart of the show were really good, and as per Punisher guidelines it's dark, gritty, and ultraviolent. It's my favorite right behind Daredevil, and Berenthal IS the Punisher. **** Defenders and Iron Fist, gimme Daredevil Season 3, Punisher Season 2, and then Jessica Jones/Luke Cage if you got time.

I thought it fizzled out late. Expected the finale to end more like The Wire's finales used to. Dark and setting up the future. Actually too clean and happy an ending for my taste.

Puts it about on par with Jessica Jones, I think. Not too far behind Daredevil.

Not there yet.

I will admit that when one character seemed to become a right wing stereotype I was pissed. Then they came in with the same stereotype for the opposite side. It wasn't about pushing a message but pointing out the bad on both.

I keep being impressed by the Marvel/Netflix combo and I'm sad it's going to end...

The point wasn't to get you to agree with the Punisher - it was always to get you to see how wrong things are.

The whole point is that a Punisher could exist. It could happen.

Why?...

This show is amazing. Loving it.

KCUnited 11-22-2017 08:15 AM

It's a really well done show. My biggest challenge with it though (besides all the grunting) is The Punisher's resemblance to our goofy local sports guy on WGN morning news, Pat Tomasulo. He's the anti-Punisher. They recently did a feature on him overcoming his childhood fears by going back to Disney and riding on the ride he pooped his pants on as a kid. It put a dent in my enjoyability of the show.

Disney will end its distribution deal with Netflix and launch its own streaming service, the company announced today. It intends to launch the service in 2019. The move is a real blow to Netflix, which secured a valuable streaming deal with Disney back in 2012 — before streaming had really taken off.

Netflix won’t lose its Disney movies right away. Disney says it plans to cut Netflix off starting with the studio’s 2019 films, and Netflix says it’ll be able to keep all the Disney movies it gets through the end of that year. That means Netflix should be able to stream the next two Star Wars movies, but it’ll miss out on the new trilogy’s final installment. “We continue to do business with the Walt Disney Company on many fronts, including our ongoing deal with Marvel TV,” said a spokesperson for Netflix.

https://screenrant.com/marvel-shows-...aming-service/

Quote:

Unlike the other MCU properties Daredevil and the rest of the shows under the Defenders banner – were produced by Netflix. As such, yanking them off the service seems logistically impossible. But will Disney strongarm their former partner?

It’s been confirmed that future Marvel shows will be exclusive to Disney’s service. The existing shows, however, will stay on Netflix. What’s more, it’s said that any spinoffs of those shows will also stay on the site. Netflix keeping the series they helped to create makes sense, but will Disney allow them to make future seasons of shows like Jessica Jones and The Punisher, or license out new characters for said spinoffs?

As for the existing shows that Netflix already houses such as Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones, The Defenders and The Punisher, it has been confirmed that they will be staying on their original platform. This arrangement will also hold for future seasons and off-shoots of the aforementioned series.

To answer the same question from a few people: The Marvel shows currently on Netflix, and any spin-offs from them, will stay on that platform

From what I understand, it's a joint Netflix-Disney production, so Disney can't whisk existing series away to a different platform. Who knows what they can and will renegotiate for future releases, but I can't imagine that Netflix would agree to creating content for someone else's platform.
