Anybody in here do Jiu Jitsu?
 

I've been doing it for about 16 months, with MMA rotated in (striking, no-gi). Wondering if there were any other planeteers who did this.

If you don't, I simply can't recommend it enough. It's deeply powerful in what it does to your mind and spirit. I figure there have to be at least a few former wrestlers in here, and if there are... you guys should do it, especially. It really helps with takedowns and general acclimation to a 200lb dude on top of you trying to choke you out or break your shoulder.

If I'm the only one, I guess this can become an AMA until I shut it down due to disinterest or giant pictures of french fries.

How long until someone morphs this to r/iamverybadass ?

If they do, they aren't BJJ guys. You learn pretty damn quick that 1) you're not tough, and 2) you have NO idea who is.

Once you're arm-barred by a 120 pound girl, your concepts of tough and weak change pretty drastically. It's about who is skilled and who is not.

How long have you done that? A couple dudes at my gym are vegan. Although, I think they say "plant-based diet" to maintain some distance from the hipsters.

About the same time I went Atheist, so maybe a year or so ago.
