It was time. Thanks to ET for some great years of service.

Loving the aggressiveness that Veach and Andy are showing this offseason. We are definitely going all in for the next couple of seasons.

Dayze 02-11-2019 01:00 PM

i imagine playing for ET would be like trying to get fired up for an MMA fight by Clint Eastwood giving the pep talk.

Lol what agressiveness? Firing an old washed up D coordinator that should have been fired last year? Thats considered agressive?

They're basically overhauling the entire defensive staff. Better late than never.

Maybe we can bring back one of the glory days secondary: Cherry has a bunch of businesses, is Lewis, Ross or Burruss coaching? Would also take Hasty.

Dayze 02-11-2019 01:52 PM

Bring back Warfield as the coach of the Secondary

Red Dawg 02-11-2019 01:56 PM

Good. Call Ed Reed and lets go.

Hammock Parties 02-11-2019 01:57 PM

This was on CP two weeks ago via Marty Mac.

MahiMike 02-11-2019 02:09 PM

Eric Berry to replace him? Might as well get something out of him.

Dunerdr 02-11-2019 02:14 PM

Kendrick Lewis is available

You just triggered Chiefsandos (Showtime now).

Rain Man 02-11-2019 02:25 PM

I wonder why his daughter announced it.

Good luck to Emmitt going forward. He was one of the heroes of my youth.

MAHOMO 4 LIFE! 02-11-2019 02:46 PM

Marty Mac also said we will sign House one way or another

chiefforlife 02-11-2019 03:05 PM

Any word on Al Harris?

milkshock 02-11-2019 03:06 PM

thanks and goodbye to one of the greatest Chiefs ever.

scho63 02-11-2019 03:14 PM

Good call, good for him and may he enjoy his retirement. He is no spring chicken!

JakeF 02-11-2019 04:43 PM

Wish him good health and happiness

That said he should have been gone a couple of years ago.

Kiimo 02-11-2019 04:47 PM

Get ready for the Bartee Partee

If Berry gets the surgery and ends up playing, do you think his spirit would sign on as DB coach?

Also, how would that work? Would he show up as like a Force ghost or something?

smithandrew051 02-11-2019 05:51 PM

Bring in Bernard Pollard to show these young guys how to shut down Brady.

Always go for the ankles.

gblowfish 02-11-2019 06:58 PM

If I had to pick a former Chief who would make a good DB coach, who might actually take the job, I'd nominate James Hasty, Mark Collins or Kevin Ross. Cherry has too much money, Albert Lewis would be a better special teams coach, Dale Carter was insane and undisciplined. Another good pick would be Lloyd Burruss. Did you know Burruss is the only Chief to ever be the Mack Lee Hill Award winner - rookie of the year- (1981), the team’s MVP (1985) and a member of the Chiefs Hall of Fame (1999)?

RJ 02-11-2019 07:46 PM

Enjoy your retirement, Emmitt, you have earned it!

RJ 02-11-2019 07:47 PM

Where is Jim Marsalis these days?

I'm guessing Emmitt doesn't social media.

I was so pissed when they let Lloyd Burruss go. One of my all time favorite Chiefs and the first time I ever got mad at the team.

I nominate J. C. Pearson

EPodolak 02-11-2019 08:23 PM

So long Emmitt. Still always imagine the number 18 when I hear his name.

Actually Jayice isnt a bad pick he is pretty knowledgeable.

Where is Reggie Tongue now days? Gary Green? Bennie Thompson?

Anyway I wish Emmitt a long well deserved retirement. I also hope he went out of his own accord. I hate the thought of one of the chiefs greats being fired. I read long ago that Emmitt ran a 4.4 40 if so impressive. Also old coaches said he was as fast in pads as in shorts. Thats something if true considering the gear was big and heavy then.

ping2000 02-11-2019 10:26 PM

Dang, and our defensive backs were doing so well.. William Bartee available? Would be a great steal.

IUsedToBeATightEnd 02-12-2019 02:13 AM

That's good news. As good as hiring Spagnuolo and House.
Hopefully he will be replaced by someone who can teach the DB's how to tackle.

Demonpenz 02-12-2019 03:12 AM

Reggie Tounge come to teach people how to lay licks.

I'm glad they let him retire. He's an all-time great Chief.

oldman 02-12-2019 12:01 PM

It's sad to see the last link to the Chiefs of my youth leave, but it's time. One of the greatest CBs of all time and a master of the bump and run. Didn't Kevin Ross HC the Arena League team we had in KC a few years back? Now just bring in DJ to coach the LBs.

New World Order 02-12-2019 12:12 PM

Jamell Fleming anyone?
