The Best Draft Evaluators

Very interesting article.

Basically, 3 and 4 years after the '15 and '14 drafts, there were 3 analysts actually did a better job at evaluating talent than the actual NFL teams that drafted those years combined (for the top 100). Crazy.

So, if you're going to research someone and want credible analysis, probably best to check out these 3 along with whoever else you're checking out:

1. NFL Rough Draft: http://nflroughdraft.com/top-100/
2. The Huddle Report: http://www.thehuddlereport.com/valueboard.shtml
3. NFL Draft Geek: https://www.nfldraftgeek.com/2018-nf...pect-rankings/

Best Draft Evaluators, 3 years after the fact

Still hope Carlton Davis or Isaiah Oliver makes it to #54.

Might need a trade up to get them though.

KChiefs1 04-18-2018 01:45 PM

Anyone get this?

Eric Galko is pretty good I think.

NFL Draft Big Board: Final ranking of best players in 2018 class

Our final Big Board ahead of the 2018 NFL Draft ranks the top 100 non-quarterback prospects in the class, including highlight breakdowns for the top 32 players.

Eric Galko Contributor @OptimumScouting

The 2018 NFL Draft class will be defined by its quarterbacks, as this year’s group of passers is the most intriguing in recent history. But N.C. State pass-rusher Bradley Chubb and Penn State running back Saquon Barkley could turn out to be just as valuable in the NFL as any of the QBs in this class.

In addition, playmakers like USC running back Ronald Jones and Texas A&M wide receiver Christian Kirk might be selected higher than you think. On the flip side, Alabama defensive back Minkah Fitzpatrick and LSU running back Derrius Guice could slip on draft day.

Note: This big board does not include quarterbacks, as they can’t adequately be ranked among other position groups.

I assume you are Mike or Ray?

Would love some thoughts on the Chiefs upcoming draft or thoughts on our big picks in recent years.

Chargem 04-22-2018 04:09 AM

I dunno, if Maurice Hurst is still there at 40 the Chiefs better be looking to trade up to get him, that would be an absolute steal.

Same for Ragnow at 72. I'm fine taking 3rd/4th round CB talent if those two are the first two picks.

Always looking for great insight on players.

NFLroughdraft 04-24-2018 05:27 PM

Hey, sorry guys! I just read your replies! I think Hurst WILL be there in the 2nd round, so if you believe the team should look in that direction rather than CB, then you should consider him a possibility. I've posted this on Twitter a few times, but consider the recent history of prospects with known heart conditions.

Star and Fairley were projected top 5 overall and both fell to mid-1st.

Ragland and Groves were both projected mid-to-late 1st and both fell deep into the 2nd round.

Arif's article was pretty awesome and I'm excited to see where we land next year too (we had Dak in our top 100).

I'm more than happy to answer any questions you guys have, but you may have more luck reaching me quicker on Twitter @NFLroughdraft or Ray at @TheRayMencio.

Thank you guys again for the kind words. You're awesome!

Dante84 04-28-2018 08:41 AM

These guys won Huddle Reports top 100 challenge with a score of 89.

Bumping for the 2019 draft season.

htismaqe 02-06-2019 03:51 PM

NFL Rough Draft has Thompson at #28 on their top 100, could he realistically drop to us at 29? They also have Ferguson and Bush right around where we'd pick too...

I think there’s a pretty good chance Thompson makes it to 29

Ferguson, Adderley, Rock-Sin.

Profit.

If this doesn't make you drool, I don't know what will.

staylor26 02-07-2019 10:57 AM

In that scenario:

1. Adderley
2. Bush
3. Ferguson

I really think they're going to get their pick of guys at 29. I hope they don't screw it up. LOL

Dante84 04-22-2019 09:50 PM

Bumping again for draft week to review their positional rankings. Thought you guys might want to look as well.

NFLroughdraft 04-23-2019 03:16 PM

Thank you! Don't put too much stock into our positional rankings. They're a tad outdated at this point. We have a brand new 7 round mock that gives you an idea of our player values. We also used a visit tracker to match players with teams.

Most importantly, our top 450 board will be posted tonight after 1 AM Eastern. That's the good stuff!

In all sincerity, thank you guys for the kind words and let us know if you have any questions. We're on Twitter.

Annual "just before the draft" thread bump. The top 3 'most accurate' evaluators (from a few years ago) all have 2020 big boards.

Links below:
NFL Rough Draft's 2020 Big Board
The Huddle Report's 2020 Big Board
NFL Draft Geek's 2020 Big Board

I reached out to the author of the original article, via Twitter DM, and asked to see if this is a report he would consider doing annual so we could be sure to follow the most accurate evaluators. I'll let you know if he gets back to me.

Dante84 04-15-2020 05:44 PM

He responded; turns out he now works for a publication that also employs some of the evaluators he was ranking, so it's something his publisher doesn't think is appropriate. Bummer.

Those 3 and DraftScout.com are the 4 boards I've found to be the best. I don't really think it's changed much, or at all.
